Pakistan and China, the two friendly neighboring countries separated by the highest mountainous range of the world The Karakorum ranges. The only place connecting two countries together over this mountainous range is The Khunjerab Pass, at the height of 16,200 ft. Khunjerab Pass is the point were the Highest Paved international road The Karakorum Highway enters China connecting Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China and Gilgit–Baltistan of Pakistan. For those who love the high mountainous region, snow and cold weather this is a place must go. The nearest Pakistani town from Khunjerab is Sust that also act as the immigration and custom post. If you want to enter china Visa/Passport is required from their embassy in Islamabad, a bus service runs between Sust, Pakistan till Kashgar, China through Khunjerab Pass. But if you are not willing to visit china you can just go to the Khunjerab Pass and come back to Pakistan by just paying a nominal fee at the post. The Khunjerab Pass is worth visiting with its scenic beauty, awesome mountain views, the yaks grazing and the orange marmot. Since this place is at such high altitude, after November the crossing might be closed because of heavy snow. But after April, the pass is again open and can be visited at any time. We visited Khunjerab in the month of September 2015, the trip was awesome and we enjoyed it very much. There are no restaurants or shops at the Khunjerab Pass so you have to bring eatables and coffee with you if you want to have a picnic there. You also have to eat lots of Apricot on the way to Khunjerab to overcome the lack of oxygen that you feel at this altitude, it is recommended not to stay for more than 30 min at the pass. Also, wear warm clothes and Jackets to face the cold weather, there. Remember to bring the camera with you so that you can have your photographs with the Chines and Pakistani Security Guards for your collection.

It could be taken as a day-trip from Passu, upper Hunza, some 3,4 hrs drive from Passu to Khunjerab pass, the pass that connects Pakistan with China.
It is 4700 m pass and national park, that's a considerable population of Ibex and snow leopard.
The pass is closed officially from the 31st of December till the 1st of May, because of heavy snowfall.

Khunjerab Pass is a place in the lists that should visit if you will do travel trip to Hunza in Pakistan.
It is a border pass Pakistan and China at high mountain elevation around 16,000 ft. above sea level.
The views surrounding that place are very beautiful.

If you're planning on going there then u should know that there's absolutely nothing exciting about this place. Locals pay 100 rupees while foreigners pay 1300 rupees entrance for basically seeing a border entrance. Worse part is that they charge such an amount of money but there's absolutely no facilities available. Toilets are the most horrific things I've ever experienced there with no water or toilet paper and a hole in the ground. If someone had written this review I would've never went there & burn my time and money. Funny thing is that there's an ATM that is supposed to be the highest ATM in the world but it doesn't work so its just an ATM for the sake of being at the highest altitude. Drive to Pasu cones and turn around is my advice. We didn't even bothered to take any pictures because its just so stupid to drive like 6-7 hours one way to go see a bunch of barricades.

Visiting Khunjerab pass was always on my must do list. I was able to make it in July 2014 with my spouse & 2 kids (age 9&6). Served with an excellent road, only hiccup back then was crossing mighty Ataabad lake (now a tunnel links both ends & makes journey very convenient). Ferrying on fisherman boat was quite an experience in itself. Khunjerab national park is a vast area of about 560,714 acres which finally reaches Khunjerab pass linking Pakistan with China. The pass is at an altitude of approx 15500 ft AMSL.
We came pretty ill prepared, in our summer clothes, only to be greeted by gushing winds & light snowfall. The combo of weather & altitude was too much for young kids, had to cover them in all the cold weather wrappings we could gather including our rented ride driver's jacket :)
Met a Chinese family which came from the other side of pass and had friendly exchange of coins, smiles and made some photos.
On our way back we stopped to see a snow leopard, also came across some golden marmots.

Overall a superb experience. A place worth revisiting.
