Interesting site!

Bet Guvrin-Maresha is a really interesting archaeological site, plus they have a dig-for-a-day program, so you can actually participate in an archaeological dig.

These caves are pretty amazing. My kids (12 & 9) liked exploring the many caves and learning that several of the caves were used to rear pigeons - an important food source in this arid region many years ago.

Ancient caves dug into the chalk. You need a car or even better, a guide, to get there and appreciate the history of the area. Unfortunately we did not have a guide and arrived late, around 3pm. By the time we oriented ourselves the park closed, so we missed many of the caves we wanted to visit. Next time we... More

Israelis love to Hike..very crowded during the intermittent days of the Hondas: succo t and Passover. All main attractions are crowded, . The natives Israelis, who are very observant make these two holidays their main vacation days and do not work!!

we were unfamiliar with the Caves of Maresha, and were unprepared for the history of this area. do go with a good guide and you will learn so much. we went from cave to cave underground, seeing where our ancestors pressed olive oil, stored food, lived and raised doves for food and sacrifice. it was a very hot day, and... Went there last week while in Israel and loved it! It was amazing to see some of the caves and to find out how they were made. They also have ancient oil presses and cave dwellings from ancient times. This was my second time there and I still haven't seen all of the areas that are open to the public.... More

We never tire of visiting this magnificent National Park. It is a large park and having a vehicle is helpful, but not essential. The park provides a brochure with a map, suggested touring and walking routes - and they even provide a "handicapped- and stroller- accessible route. The park has a phenomenal columbarium (for raising doves) with over 2000 nesting... More

The caves at the park are amazing - well-kept, an exciting experience for young ones and for grownups - not far from Jerusalem, yet out in nature - highly recommended.

They have multiple things that are worth seeing. The Bell Caves are fascinating, as well as the Zidonian Caves, the underground dove cotes, the Olive Press, underground store rooms and rooms where people lived underground. It is fun to just go exploring and see where peoples from long ago lived and prospered.
