    Beautiful peaceful beach
We visited here while staying in nearby Louisburgh. The drive is along some very narrow roads so be prepared to find a space to pull in when meeting any oncoming traffic. However, the effort is worth is as beach is beautiful and even though we visited on a very sunny June Bank holiday weekend it was not busy. There is a decent size car park and from here it’s a lovely walk down across the golden sand to the water. Overall a beautiful peaceful beach.

Walked Down 169 steps Then Up
A beautiful beach on a windy day that had to be seen up close. So down the steps you go the very nice handrails. One hundred and sixty nine steps. The shimmering rocks on the beach and in the walls are very interesting. The walk was nice and then up the stairs to the car park the strained hamstrings for all.

    Tranquility
Definitely in the top 3 beaches in Donegal. We stayed the night in a self contained motorhome and went to sleep after the most spectacular sunset. No cars, no noise, darkness just the sounds of waves. I'm not the fitness of people but with breaks managed the steps. The walk on the beach was worth it. Arches, cliffs and caves to be seen. Well worth visiting.

We had been advised that this was one beach we had to visit. Now when you have 3 dogs to exercise, any beach walk is welcome.
Firstly, the signposting is haphazard & we went astray. Secondly, there was 1 rubbish bin in the carpark for general use. Thirdly, social distancing is difficult on the 120 steps to access the beach. Finally, the amount of litter on the beach was disappointing.
The beach's setting is spectacular and a great beach for families as it is so sheltered. I would imagine the car park fills up quite quickly on a fine day. We visited in July but on a day the temperature hovered around 15 degrees!
I would take Fintra beach over Silver Strand every time.

Those who have posted 5/5 reviews are not wrong, nor is their choice of superlatives. Decades ago we cycled here and camped at the ruins of the nearby keep. A magical time then as well as now, though, alas, we are beyond our camping years. Could be a tricky road on the Wild Atlantic Way in rainy or windy weather but today provided clear skies and breath-taking views.

Get there early to avoid crowds. Very clean. Steps are manageable but take your time. Yes difficult to social distance on them but nobody lingers too long. Nice cafe with friendly staff nearby.

We had heard about this beach and while in the area decided to check it out. It is a good few miles off the main road but well worth the effort. It is simply beautiful and one of the nicest beaches we have ever seen.

Called in on a tour of the Atlantic Way. Spectacular beach, about 200 steps down but if you take your time it is fine.

Lovely secluded beach, very clean water and safe for swimming.

Little coffee van helps quench your thirst after climbing back up the steps

Great views and perfect location for a (semi)private dip in the ocean. Just stopped for the view but ended up walking down to the beach and skinny dipping since there were only 8 other people in the whole area.

This B&B is the last house at the end of a rural road in an obscure corner of Co. Donegal. It is next to a car park which overlooks a beautiful, pristine beach (Silver Strand, hence the B&B's name) down over a hill. There is a lovely headland adjacent as well, with fields of sheep and cattle but accessible and walker-friendly, from which great views can be had. The B&B's dining room is mostly glass with great views (the food was great, too). Room was nice and hosts were friendly. But really it's about the location.

We are having a heatwave. Our best summer in years on holidays in Donegal and I just visited Silver Strand ( Several in Ireland ). This one in Malin Beg on the South West coast of Donegal in Irelands Northwest. The perfect horseshoe shaped beach has to be accessed via almost 200 steep steps. Incredibly beautiful the almost empty beach with crystal clear water and soft sand really has to be seen to be believed although this is only one of many extraordinary beaches dotted around Donegal.
