A lot of the old businesses are closed and vacant.

I remember downtown Pocatello before the mall and the shopping out on Yellowstone Avenue. It was the place to go, and the Chief theater was the best one in town. In the past 50... read more

My husband and I often walk Old Town on date night. There is a little something for everyone. I enjoy all of the antique stores and the bookstore, and he enjoys visiting the fishing store. Pocatello is working hard at preserving its heritage. They also have a dog party near.

I love the buildings in this downtown. Right now it's a lot of empty buildings. Some of the business in them need updating. I have a very good eye for potential, and this town has it. Needs some TLC. currently there are a couple really good antique stores that are worth stopping in at.

I remember downtown Pocatello before the mall and the shopping out on Yellowstone Avenue. It was the place to go, and the Chief theater was the best one in town. In the past 50 years (has it been that long?) downtown has become a shadow of its former self. The train station is still impressive and the bus station is... More

I love neighborhoods like this and so when I read about Old Town in Pocatello I knew I had to visit. I was prepared to be disappointed, but I wasn't. I thoroughly enjoyed the friendliness, cleanliness and overall feel of this neighborhood. There are some interesting shops and restaurants, to be sure, but I enjoyed just walking around. If you... The Downtown Historic District of Pocatello has many buildings from a bygone era: in particular, the Whitman Hotel, the "remains" of the Chief Theater, the Bus Depot and the Yellowstone Hotel. It requires some walking on and near Main Street. You will feel like you are walking in the past.

On a recent road trip I stopped in Pocatello and decided to checkout the Old Town section. It had a lot of charm and some interesting shops and restaurants. It if like exploring old towns check it out.

No matter what effort is expended on this part of town it continues to become irrelevant to the normal shopper. Businesses close, it is windy and at night spooky. I go there for a specific business or two but for nothing else. To bad. If it were in Portland this place would be thriving with hipsters and money. Not here,... More

If you want to get away from chain restaurants, chain everything, go down to the historic section of town. Seems very authentic.

Some cute antique shops, cafes and empty buildings. I see lots of potential here. Love the feel and architecture, they just need some more businesses to take the plunge and open up.

Great place to shop local. I enjoy the First Friday Art Walk and The Revive at 5 on Wednesdays in the Summer. I also attend the Farmers market Summer Saturday mornings. And my dog has made many friends at the near by dog park.
