This was great. Be sure and stop just outside Ketchum at the SNRA visitors center. The Ranger was so helpful. They have a CD you can listen to as you drive to Stanley. It gives you info as you go by mile markers. Wonderful self guided tour. Only downside was a fire in Boise National Forest really threw a haze... More

The Sawtooth Wilderness Area is an area worth coming back to over and over again. Drive over Galeena Summit and see the headwaters of the Snake river. Then enjoy the beauty of the Sawtooth mountains.

We camped for 3 nights at Easley campground. The host was friendly and knowledgeable. The pit toilets were clean and well stocked. The 10 sites had a assortment of tents and RV campers but everyone was friendly and polite. So were the dogs. It was cold at night, in the upper 30's, but it is Idaho in the mountains. Days... More

Sawtooth NRA is yet another awesome place our country is blessed to have. What you see is what you get, with great views of rapids, canyons, mountaintops, alpine lakes and a bevy of hiking opportunities, fishing, rafting, etc.

One stormy Spring afternoon in Stanley, Idaho the gloominess gave way to colors of teal in the clouds and water. A MRC B+W polariser was used to control the contrast on the water and sky. After waiting for the perfect light, the trees began to glow. This is part of the amazing Sawtooth mountain range in Stanley, Idaho. Very peaceful... More

Words cannot express the beauty of this area. Every step you take is a "Kodak" moment! We did several hikes here including Adam's Gulch and Proctor Loop. Adam's Gulch was a little difficult to find, but well worth it. The hike is easy to moderate with amazing 360 degree views! Our favorite hike was Proctor Loop which you enter right... More

The most rugged mountain range to view and hike. But the most incredible way to see the mountains is upclose with a backwoods pilot.... words fail to describe the rugged majesty of the Sawtooth's, which are appropriately named. The hidden ice covered mountain lakes, even in the summer, and the mountain goats feeding at the top of the ridges is... More

If you make it to Sun Valley you have to make it to Stanley, it will not disappoint, From Alturas to Redfish and all the knickers and n between. Don't forget to visit Smiley Crek lodge to have their famous milkshakes or The Bakery in Stanley.
