The island is nothing but a tourist trap with over priced sea food that isn’t even that tasty. It receives an extra star because the boat ride out was reasonably pleasant.
There is little to do but wander, either on foot or electric bike or scooter, through the alleys and look at the houses, which look like, well ......houses. It is very mildly picturesque, trashy and really uninspired.
Our lunch cost the equivalent of $37 (USD) and I went away hungry. Don’t go to Remember Me Seafood. It’s outrageously expensive and they deliver foods that you didn’t order, that you eat, and then get charged for. A plate of crab was delivered consisting mostly of shells with some random sprinkles of slightly meaty legs. This pathetic excuse for lunch, on its own, cost $25 (100MYR).
We took Ali Babas boat to the island, advertised as “luxurious but affordable.” The seats were relatively comfortable and there were life jackets. The cabin smells mildly of urine and is quite cold. There are bathrooms on board which drain directly to the sea. We sat on the top deck because we had a better view and the fresh air was nice.
Oh, and the bathrooms on shore by the dock spill onto the sand. Classy.

Beautiful blue skies and very picturesque island. We paid for the most expensive boat trip and it just was pretty much emptied on the way there with very little difference in price. Get camera ready as there are plenty of beautiful pictures to be taken on the way there. The island is small but lovely for walk around and to scape one day out of the city. We ate in one of the restaurants near the harbour. Make sure you ask for prices and maybe even negotiate them as there seemed to be quite a bit of discrepancies in between one restaurant or another. Lots of crabs on the shores so its a must to try when in there. We found a local fisherman and bought prawns and crabs from him to take home for a good price, so if you see one, don't be afraid to ask! was the testiest i tried in Malaysia !

A unique island where the transportation are only bicycle or electric motorbike. The fishing village build over the swampy area, and connected by cemented road. The buildings, rhe road and the platforms are so stable giveng us a false sense that we were stepping on solid gound.
It was the last day of the year, and the island was clowded by visitors. We rented a neat and clean homestay and enjoyed the two days one night in this beutiful island.
The residents were friendly and helpful. The environment were peaceful. We explored the island on foot, and with rented bicycle and electric motorbike on the road just enough to allow two vehicles to past by.
The residents are majority Chinese. There are many temples worshipping different godesses and deities. There are also two Chinese primary schools and one secondary school. It used to be a well populated island with thousands of students in the school, but the population has shrinked due to younger generation prefer to stay in town. Currently each school has only about a hundred students.
This is definitely a different environment for where we used to experience. If you are looking for a special peaceful holiday, this is sure the place to go.

With so many wonderful things to see in the greater Kuala Lumpur area, this is NOT one of them.
It is expensive. There is nothing to see here. There is nothing to do but spend money on over-priced food or on a bicycle or electric scooter to cruise the narrow streets.
The people are totally unfriendly - which is so unlike the rest of the Malaysians we have met.
Spend your valuable time and money elsewhere. It's a waste of both here.

There are many Buddhist Temple in the island and open my eyes. I found that there is no beach around the island and this makes me feel a bit "shocked". Tourists can also rent the bicycles to travel around the island. One day trip is recommended if you wish to relax your mind and try the seafood especially fresh crab.

The island is so small and there is not much attraction apart from renting an electric bicycle to move around and see the fishing village. The seafood there is so expensive and not as good taste as we expected. The place is very dirty. This is a place where you will never be there for the 2nd time.

I went to Pulau Ketam, in order to get to Sungai Lima. While Pulau Ketam
is easy to get to from Klang Port, it is a busy with tourists and seafood restaurants. As I was looking for some peace and tranquilly and an insight into the cultural-living heritage of the Chinese fishing communities, I took a short boat ride to Sungai Lima, which is smaller, more beautiful and relaxing Island. I stayed at
南方小屋 Southern Home homestay which was great, with Oscar a great host. He spoke English and gave me a great insight into the community, the various temples, flora, fauna. I could spend a week here, as it was so relaxed in comparison to KL. People were very welcoming, and rooms in the homestay were perfect.

What an amazing place this is. Incredible what has been built here and the locals have managed to arrange a truly great way of life. Fantastic people, great scenery and awesome food. It would have been perfect if it wasnt for the intrusive stream of unruly and noisy electric scooters swerving around the pedestrians and constantly tooting. Please remove the scooters and allow this place to be perfect.

I'll be upfront here and say that a day trip to Crab Island will not bring you intricate historical architecture, scenic beach vistas, or sumptuous seafood feasts. What it does provide is a day out close to nature and a glimpse back in time in traditional subsistence life by locals on this island - all for under 10 bucks.
The trip starts with a KTM (Komuter) train ride from KL Sentral to Pel Klang station which is the last station on the train line. The trip takes around 1 hour 15 minutes and I used my Touch n Go card costing around RM5.60.
After getting off the train at Pel Klang head straight for the ferry terminal across the road as I found the ferry to Crab island sitting there waiting for the tourists from the train station. There are several ferries heading to different destinations from this dock so if in doubt ask one of the crew "Pulau Ketam?" to receive a nod for confirmation. There's no waiting and the ferry departed as soon as the train passengers got on board.
You buy your tickets once seated and the conductor comes around your seat and gives change for cash payment. They will try and sell you a return ticket but I'd recommend buying a one-way ticket only as several different ferry companies ply this route and their tickets are not interchangeable. If you buy a return ticket then you may be left waiting on Crab Island for your ferry to return which may only run every hour. It is much more convenient just to hop on the next ferry that arrives on the return trip and buy your one-way ticket on board.
Once on the island you are left to your own devices to walk around and explore; hire a push bike or electric scooter to ride around; enjoy a seafood lunch at one of the many restaurants; or do all of these things. This island is surrounded by mud flats and all of its houses and buildings sits on stilts each usually with a colourful long boat tied to the moor. This makes for interesting photography and the more adventurous can do a bit of bush bashing beyond the residences on the edge of the island.
There are also number of Chinese temples which their traditional motifs scattered around the island to visit, and tourists are well catered for with more than a dozen restaurants offering various dishes but their specialty here is as you may have guessed - fresh crabs. A few reviewers mentioned the small size of the crabs but the biggest ones quickly get snapped up for a meal and it also depend on seasonal conditions.
The return trip is a backtrack of the way you have arrived. Head to the boat dock where they dropped you off, and jump on the next ferry that arrive to connect to Pel Klang train station to catch the air-conditioned train for a ride back to KL city centre.
In terms of transportation costs it was a total of RM11.20 in return train fare and RM16 in return ferry trip (costs vary by a few RM depending on the ferry company). This was an interesting day out and for me well worth the variation to the usual tourist attractions in KL city centre that won't make a dent in your budget.

This island is below normal sea level,that is why the whole fishing village is built over stilt.
This island is a major supplier of crabs and fishes to the nearby city.Mangrove swamp surrounded this island ,this habitat is ideal for crab to thrive.Hence the island get its name >the crab Island.
There is no water source at this Island.The drinking water 24/7 is being piped in from the mainland (port Klang)by submerge pipeline.Electricity supply 24/7 is also from the mainland.
The whole village survive from fishing only.Of lately fish farming had been on going due to reduction of fish catch cause by over fishing and uncontrollable fishing methods.
There is no veggie ,fruit tree due to land problem(flooded during high tide).All veggies /fruits are imported from the main land.
Getting there:
The ferry at port Klang run regular hourly trip to this Island
.Last trip from and to crab island stop at about 5.30pm. Ferry ride take about 50 minutes(all air-con).There is no ferry service at night..
At the island there are hotels,restaurant,coffee shop,temple,police station,clinic and travel service for boat charter for fishing and island tours.A small community with all the basic necessary.
Sea fishing can be arranged by private chartered.
Getting to the Jetty at Port Klang.
The commuter train from KL ends at Port Klang.just walk across the road to the Jetty point to Crab Island.
There is also a paid parking lot for those going there with car.
Precaution:
Even though the whole island survive on fishing,eating sea food on this island is not cheap due to unethical restaurants owner fleecing the unsuspecting tourist/ customer.Ask for price menu before ordering.
A day trip or overnight stay at this isolated island is a good experience to get away from city life.
Wheel chair access is not available,as with any boat transfer need to walk over boat and sloped jetty..

The sea water is murky and muddy all over this Island,so do not expected "crystal clear water"

Not that I am aware of, there are plenty of retaruants that sell only seafood. Not sure if this helps.

The Island itself is a remarkable place Do explain to the Children about Tides of the ocean.Also you can see the notes about the island.The Children will love to ride bicycles.There are nice snack shops too.
