It was worth the walk through. The artists are very talented. I didn’t understand a lot of the art, however, still enjoyed all the figures.

Beautiful art painting on a Boise street.
No entry fee. Just walk through street to enjoy this amazing art. Surrounding is full of restaurants.

I have a mixed opinion about Freak Alley. First, I love the idea of making the alley a place where artists are allowed to show off their skills in such a public venue. It was vibrant and something I had never seen before.

My adult daughter and I spend a good amount of time looking at all of the artwork. I do have to say, that a lot of it seemed to be on the darker side of things.

Some of the artwork was very powerful while others were just out there. Art is very subjective and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The surrounding area is full of unique shops and restaurants with outdoor eating spaces along the streets. Very safe and welcoming.

I would definitely tell someone to visit this…just note that it’s not all butterflies and roses!

Vibrant Street Art! In town with my daughter visiting my brother and SIL. After lunch we walked downtown and strolled down Freak Alley. Definitely a must see gem in Boise!

This is worth a visit, as there are many interesting art murals to view. As it’s close to many excellent restaurants, please search it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Freak Alley Gallery (F.A.G) is the northwest's largest open-air, multi-artist mural gallery, located between 8th and 9th street and Bannock and Idaho in Downtown Boise.
Artists add new works of art every year, creating an ever growing and changing experience for all. Each summer a large painting event is held which allows artists and community members to be apart of the Freak Alley Gallery as it transforms.
Without fundraising and donations the Alley would not be what it is today. Due to these efforts made by the Boise community, F.A.G is creating something so much bigger than the Alley itself.

If you are in Boise, you have to visit Freak Alley. It is off the pedestrian streets and is an amazing collection of murals done by local artists. All the walls, doors, etc. are covered with these colorful works of art. It has turned a small alley into a destination.

I had seen this attraction's reviews many months ago and made a mental note to visit when I had the chance. After lunch at P.F. Chang's, I decided to fulfill that mental note.
Sadly, I was disappointed by the artwork in Freak Alley. Yeah, I should have expected an influence from the drug and hard rock culture. However, I thought I would like at least some of the artwork. Well, there were 2, or maybe 3, paintings that I liked -- and one of those was a country scene on the east side of 8th Street, which is probably not even part of Freak Alley!
I walked the length of the alley, hoping to see something worthy of attention; unfortunately, I continued to be disappointed in the overall experience.

Freak Alley is very cool, and I'm told it changes the murals somewhat regularly, so it would be a neat place to go back to in a few years. It is not a very big gallery, so don't expect to stay too long, but it's a great little detour in a cool area of downtown.
