i had 2 hikes: val zemola and campanile di val montanaia, both very beautiful,at val zemola i did a loop starting from rifugio casera mela (near erto village), to reach "il campanile" i star from rifugio pordenone after a 14 km toll road from cimolais.

“Great views of the dolomites and the dolomite pyramids”

We took the day trip from Milan (operated by Zani Viaggi) to visit the Dolomites. Our guide Martha was very knowledgable and professional. The tour was in a mini van with 15 people on the tour. We drove to Bolzano where we caught a cable car to Oberbozen. The views of the valley and Bolzano was really nice. At Oberbozen, we took an old train up to Collabo. From here we boarded the tour bus and drove down the road to the viewing area for the dolomites and the dolomite pyramids. Fantastically unique formations. We had a forced lunch stop at Spothotel Spögker before driving back through hair pin bends down to Bolzano. We had about 1.5 hours in Bolzano before getting on the bus and heading back to Milan. note - this tour has about 7-8 hrs of driving time

One of the most beautiful and wild territories

Of the various territories into which we "border" from Val Fiorentina, the location of our holidays, those included in the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park are certainly among the most beautiful and wild. We are particularly familiar with the western sector, closest to us, the one to be clear which falls within the municipalities of Erto-Casso and Cimolais, embellished by the magnificent Zemola and Cimoliana valleys, as well as by stupendous mountains such as Duranno, Cima dei Preti and the incredible Bell Tower of Val Montanaia, which some nicknamed "the stone scream".
The most compromised part is obviously the one close to the Vajont dam, where the valley has lost its physiognomy forever, but for the rest the park reserves environments that are almost intact and of very high naturalistic value, which I recommend entering either by car, and above all with walking excursions, during which it is not uncommon to come across wild animals (e.g. ibex at high altitude).
