I have fished many piers on the east coast and the gulf, but was surprised by the heavy current around this pier. I usually use a fish finder rig and fish the bottom, but the current would not let me hold the bottom. The other drawback was the breeze. Most days we were on St Simon, the breeze was in... More

Small pier. There were a lot of people fishing and using pier. Nice to see, but had to watch where you walked in order not to get hooked by the people fishing. Located at end of village, so worth the walk to see.

I love coming here. My dad used to fish off this pier when we were kids and it never ceased to amaze me what bounty of the sea that people caught each day. From all types of fish to crabs and shrimp! The birds would hang around to get the guts after the fishermen cleaned their catch. You get a... More

This is a nice spot to watch the sunset, people are fishing, enjoying the surrounded area. A lot of benches and seat around the area.

Walked the pier to check out the locals crabbing. Was nice as there was not one panhandler out there....or anywhere, that I could see. Anyway, great place to see Dolphin swim by and maybe catch a glimpse of a sea turtle or two.

I enjoyed going to this pier since 1970 when I travel down to St. Simons to visit family. I visited again recently and was so delighted that it still has the same magic. First of all, FREE is a good thing. In Virginia Beach, we pay a fee to walk on a pier. It has a nice railing now that... More

This is a very long pier with bench seating. Quite interesting as lots of people fishing when we were there in the afternoon.

This is an actual fishing pier, but it is an excellent place to catch the sunset over the water. No entrance fee, either.

The Pier is the place that defines Saint Simons Island--even more than the lighthouse. It is partially covered and a great place to meet and speak with others or to simply be alone to enjoy Mother Nature.
