So we went else where and then was stopped coming back in w tag in window and given hard time due to people... More

100 bucks to camp 3 days and to visit the fort is extra 10 bucks. Had a reenactment this weekend. That was an extra 10 bucks per person. Parking lot was empty so don't think anyone showed up. When we tried to return to our campsite there was an older gentleman at the gate who was not going to allow... More

Great time using the Pioneer camp sites. We had a large group from church and had an amazing time. Quiet hours were observed so rest was had by all as well. Activities were fun too.

We visited and enjoyed this little known Confederate - a different kind of fort. earthworks fortification. bombardment by the Federals worked very hard to overtake this piece of ground, including assaults by ironclad Montauk. An inside museum and outdoor self guided trail were very well done to share the history of this fort, even with resident cat. It was finally... More

Unfriendly staff, ugly campground and extremely worried that the campers might "sneak" into the fort and museum without paying. In the 5 minutes I was in the office checking in he reminded me three times that "even the campers have to pay to see the fort and museum". Then he proceeded to point out on the map the areas we... Reservations are not site specific so get there early to pick your spot. All sites are pull thru loops parallel to the road and although they are plenty long, our 38' fifth wheel couldn't maneuver around some trees. The 30 amp was solid. The campground is huge! Large wooded sites and so much privacy. You can get disoriented when walking... More

Started off shakey. There was a parking fee that was not mentioned and it took the guard a few minutes to get out of his chair to collect the fee. Not a big deal but just sort of lazy. Then again expecting free and $9.00 for adults to tour the fort. Did thoroughly enjoy the walk though the three mile... More

The staff was very friendly and cooperative. The park was easy to navigate around. The fort walking tour was neat and the grounds well kept.

This was a beautiful location for a trail run. We went around 7 PM, the trail is wide and clear. the foliage is amazing, it made us feel like we were running through a rainforest. There is a lookout halfway through the run were you can see the salt marshes and take photos. Wonderful family excursion.
