There are few places in the United States that have retained their link to the past as Coweta County and Newnan, Georgia have. From the settlement of the town in 1828 to the new millennium, Newnan has kept the heart of Coweta beating with a firm grasp on its rich and colorful history, while looking forward and embracing the future.

It is a very nice town. We got there when a lot of the stores were closing. But the ones we went in were neat and great shopping. We had a good time just riding around looking everything over.

We are having our house in downtown Newnan renovated and we moved about 30 minutes away temporarily. We miss the shopping, dining and the friendliness of our home. And most of all the simplicity a life downtown affords you with all you need just a short walk or ride away.

During the War Between the States, Newnan was a hospital city, where the injured of both sides were treated. It therefore was spared the fate of many other cities in Georgia. Later, during part of the late 19th century, Newnan, had one of the highest per capital incomes of any city in the country, thanks to 20 trains per day... More

I absolutely love this downtown area. I try to do most of my shopping downtown to support the small businesses in our area. Great restaurants, lovely boutiques, great coffee shop and such delightful business owners. I highly recommend it.

One of the oldest court houses ; friendly people ; good food and not a lot of cost. Still small and quaint. Home of celebrities but still down home county living and honesty.

Although we lived in the PTC area for years, we very seldom ventured to Newnan. However, we recently moved to Sharpsburg and have "discovered" the charm and pleasant small-town appeal of this great little city. There is a nice variety of shops and restaurants around the square and it's a great place to walk around and met the friendly people... More

The restaurants are worth the visit. Do not visit without eating at the Redneck Gourmet or the Oink Joint! Try to eat at both if possible, the town itself has a cool old courthouse and some little shops too, not a whole lot there, but worth the trip for the food alone. The vintage toy store was awesome too, everyone... More

Downtown Newnan is a charming little southern town...it has a lot of unique places to shop and eat. Restaurants stay open late but the shops usually close by 6pm. This town has played host to several movies (Zombie land being one of them) and many an episode from the T.V. series The walking dead. If you are in the area... More

Lot's of shops, curiosities, and restaurants to enjoy. The original courthouse is interesting to tour and beautiful architecture. If you have half a day, just wander around the town square and enjoy a great southern lunch at Goldens (delicious!) in downtown.
