I visited the museum with a couple friends of mine back in January while I was in town and we stopped by the Marietta Museum after lunch one day. The museum itself is in a really interesting old building which used to be a hotel before the Civil War and served as a Union hospital at the end of the... More

Museum has free parking across rail tracks. Sign up for email to receive notice of "free" days. Another coming up in March. Bring your camera. There are opportunities for the little ones to touch and there is a gift shop downstairs to pick up a few items, do not pass up the commemorative magnet.

I recently visited the Marietta History Museum with my in-laws. It is on the second floor of the old Kennesaw House, famous for its role in the Great Locomotive Chase. While much of the original facade is gone on the inside you can feel the history. A couple of the rooms replicate how they would have appeared during the Civil... More

If you are traveling to the Atlanta, GA area make sure you go NW of Atlanta to Marietta, a city rich in History. While you are there, you will want to take in the Marietta Museum of History just off the square. Great staff, and bookstore. They also have people coming in almost weekly to do historical accounts of the... More

I recently visited this wonderful museum with the local Newcomer's group. Mr. Cox was our guide. He was a wealth of knowledge regarding Marietta's history and the people who shaped this city. It was interesting that he singlehandedly restored the Kennesaw Hotel-which was in real disrepair-and started the museum. Being on a tour with limited time, I plan to go... More

On 2nd Wednesdays of the month from 10:30am for about an hour, an adult and up to 3 kids can take a "Museum Mice Tour". The tour is a lesson in Marietta History disguised as a scavenger hunt in which you find "Murray" and "Etta", better known as the Museum Mice. Reservations are required but just call and give them... This museum is focused on Marietta and has the hotel room used by the leader of the Great Locomotive Chase. This was a great stop for my family during a day at Marietta Square. We spent about an hour here, but would've spent more time if we'd had it.
