Really enjoyed seeing these more modest historical homes. My docent was lovely, very knowledgable and interesting. It is fascinating to see how people lived in the 1800's.

This home is another very well kept early home in Madison. It sits right next to the courthouse in downtown. It is not to be missed, great surviving architectural detail.

Of the two, the history behind the woman who built Rose Cottage was most fascinating. She was definitely a woman before her time. Both houses have been lovingly restored and tell the story of the area and the people who lived there.

One of the first stops my sweetheart and I made during our day trip to Madison. Ruth V. was an exceptional tour guide and very knowledgeable. You could tell she truly had a love for history which this attraction was definitely a part of. These homes give you a firsthand look on how life was lived back then. Very small... More

The Rogers House and Rose Cottage are a sharp contrast to the opulence and elegance of Heritage Hall and other magnificent antebellum mansions that make Madison, Georgia, a popular stop on the historic Antebellum Trail from Athens to Macon. Located at 179 East Jefferson Street, they represent the middle-class and poverty levels of society in this southern community in the... More

The Rogers House/Rose Cottage are a fine contrast to the elegance of Heritage Hall and other examples of upper class living. Rogers House was the home of middle class families and the furnishings of that standard of living. Next door is Rose Cottage. This home was built by a former slave woman who took in laundry from borders at a... More

The tour of these two homes only lasts about 30 min. The homes are pretty small but have been staged nicely to give and idea of what the original owners might have had in the homes.

The history and charm in Madison is amazing!!! The Rogers House and Rose Cottage are filled with history...yet what made the reasonable tour so enchanting was the tour guide who has lived In Madison most of her life. Stop and savor the charm and history!
