The Georgia Sea Turtle Center was recommended to us by our hotel staff. We made this our first stop on Jekyll Island in late morning. We had an interesting tour of the hospital where they rehab the turtles for release and/ or sending to a zoo. There is also a hands on exhibit of the challenges the turtles face in... More

The work they do here is important. I would have rated it higher, but the facility that we were able to see was very small. There should be some interaction with the turtles; more interactive things for kids. The gift shop was a good size with a variety of items.

We took the family here this afternoon and found it incredibly enjoyable. The place is not huge, but definitely large enough that there is lots to see and it is priced quite affordably. The exhibits are quite interactive and the kids really engaged well with them. They were given cards that they could get "stamped" at each centre and we... More

This is a great educational experience. So interesting to learn about sea turtles. Try to time it for one of the sessions in the hospital - it's great to hear the stories about each turtle they are treating.

Since I'm an adult, I took the "Behind the Scenes" tour of the Sea Turtle hospital and surgical room. I highly, highly recommend doing that. It's $7 for the museum and only $22 for an all inclusive view AND all the proceeds go towards caring for the injured sea turtles! The people here are wonderful and the work they do... More

We visited twice on this trip. First, there are great, family-friendly exhibits and a window into the procedure room where we were able to see an operation on an owl and procedures on a smaller and huge sea turtle - fascinating. We did the behind-the-scenes tour as well, and saw the kitchen where they prepare meals for the patients and... More

The turtle center is great for children and adults. Good way to spend an afternoon. Make sure you time it so you get to watch a feeding. Some great work is going on there.

WONDERFUL place to learn and see for young children, you can even watch as the doctor takes care of the sea turtles who have been injured and see their upkeep. Watch videos and learn about their habitat nearby. Part of the tour would be difficult for those in wheelchairs.
