For some reason, I keep coming back to watch the trains go by. This being my 5th visit shows that I really enjoy it. Easy parking, restroom (that needs paint but the toilet and sink were clean), covered platform and it's nice being able to hear the engineers and dispatch talking on the scanner mounted under deck cover. The viewing platform faces the sun in the afternoon, even in March this was too hot for pasty faced English people. Crossed the track to the little museum and could sit in the shade of their picnic area. Saw 2 north bound trains. One rail car train going back towards Detroit presumably and one Amtrak New York bound. I could not work out if it was the train from Miami or the one from Tampa. Nice way to while away an hour!…

Drove out of our way to get to Folkston, but well worth it. 60 trains a day pass by here. The city has built a nice viewing stand with easy parking. Great views in both directions. Far enough back from the tracks that it is safe for kids to participate. Worth the trip!

We visited the Funnel after enjoying a wonderful supper at Thai Smile...it was after dark, and we saw 3 trains go by. It was clean, has a restroom and was a relaxing way to enjoy a cup of coffee and just chill for a bit.
