Located on the west coast of San Andrés Island, Morgan's Cave is a popular spot for tourists and visitors, full of legends and stories, also known as La Cueva de Morgan or Museo del Pirata and is considered one of the main tourist attractions of the island. region, because in addition to the cave itself, which would have been the place where the Pirate Henry Morgan hid a great treasure, the space consists of a themed area that tells the story of San Andrés and houses museum houses, statues and the Sea Wolf vessel.
According to legend, an English pirate named Morgan robbed thousands of sailors on the high seas and thus ended up becoming very rich and needed to find a place to hide all his treasure, so one day, while sailing the seven seas, Morgan would have found a huge and deep grave and after a brief inspection, he decided that it was the perfect space to hide all his fortune and today, this place is known as Morgan's Cave.
Still according to local legend, many people would have tried to find the pirate Morgan's treasure over the centuries, but to this day no one has succeeded, and, in fact, this feat will only be possible when the water in the cave completely recedes, causing the exact location of the money is revealed.
The tour through the themed area of Morgan's Cave begins at the museum houses, where visitors learn a little more about the local culture, with a collection of historical objects and an exhibition of paintings.
Afterwards, the visit continues passing by the statue of Henry Morgan and the Sea Wolf vessel and ends exactly in the cave that gives its name to the place, where the pirate supposedly buried his treasures.

It was nice to hear about the history of Morgan and the people working there were welcoming and informative. The place itself is very run down- we could see more buildings in the distance that seemed abandoned. It is easily found, being clearly signposted from the road - you won't need more than 30 mins to see everything.

A nice place...but in need of improvement.
This San Andres island used to be a "Paradise"...it has deteriorated immensely. And the attitude of the natives as well. What a shame.
Maybe someone will care and do something about it. I pray and hope it's done pretty soon.

This tourist attraction is very different from the others ... it has more cultural sense than fun ... but in any case a good photo next to the pirate or the cave does not go wrong!

It's basically a cave with some fake plastic stuff in it. Nothing real or of significance.
I guess you could call it the 'Pirate' experience as you have a feeling of being robbed when you get there.

I guess some people enjoy lousy pirate stories, but to make an attraction out of one with ridiculous dances by people who hate their jobs, this place is entirely boring. I would not recommend it, unless you have done all the other things in the island.

This is a fraud... They charge you 5 USD to enter and there's nothing but pure theater. The original cave is almost under stagnant water that might be a breeding place for mosquitoes...

This is not a very rewarding place to visit. One of our kids are young enough to appreciate anything with a pirate, but there is not much to see or do here.

The experience was good overall to get to know the history and that Morgan was on the island. You also get to watch a dance show by some locals
