Like Johnny Cay and el Acuario, is in need of improvement. It is deteriorated. Unsafe. The people attending to it are a little better than the ones at el Acuario. However, much needed training about civility, good manners is urgently necessary.
I wonder what the government is doing with all the money they get from the "special fee" they charge the tourists. This island used to be like a "Parsdise". It's beginning to look like a ghetto place. I hope something is done before is too late.
You must wear good shoes to walk
on the coral rocks to be able to get close to the sprayer of water.

Visiting the island we wanted to see the sights. We saw this so called attraction and as we came up to it we were confronted by so called guides. We erroneously assumed that if this sight needed a guide it must be large hole in the earth, WRONG! The so called guides are to make you think that you need a guide and if you buy a cocktail the guide is included. We bought two cocktails and the guide disappeared. We walked over to the “hole” and could see a hole in the ground is about 2 feet wide. There was no wind blowing out of it because it was high tide. Apparently, at low tide you can see a small cave which catches ocean air and it come out of the ground level hole...we really felt stupid! The best places are the mini beaches that are around the island because of the clear water. The island is run down, you are welcomed by an old worn out airport, The hotels are not in the best conditions. Very disappointed , never to return to San Andres.

I appreciate that people has to find ways of making money but I was shocked by the state of el hoyo soplador. I went there 20 years ago and what I saw this time around was disheartening. They have build houses and businesses right down the very edge of el hoyo, and it hardly ever blows, no wonder why.
Quite very sad

While the blowhole was obviously an amazing natural sight, the experience was spoiled by locals first making us buy drinks to ‘enter’ and then charging a fee, so many tourists that you couldn’t get close, lots of concrete built practically on top of the hole. A shame.

We were touring the island with our mule so we gave it a quick stop. You can park on the side of the road, so you don't need to pay or buy a drink for parking. As soon as you park there are very aggressive touts telling you that it is required to buy a drink to see the hole. This is a lie, it is open to the public. Just keep walking and walk through the many drink shops to get to it. We did start talking with one of the shop owners named Oscar who was not aggressively selling and was very nice. We ended up buying a drink from his stall. We visited at low tide with almost no wind (or waves) to make the water shoot through. You could still feel the warm air pushed up. It was actually a cool experience any way because we jumped in the water at the shoreline and swam up under the reef to the bottom of the hole. It was a cool alternative way to experience it.

Hoyo Soplador is a blowing hole that spits water. But you must be really lucky to see it. Even then people say it’s not impressive. It was on the way of our ride so we decided to stop anyway. It was not spitting anything and there is no entrance. But the hole is surrounded by houses and restaurants, and people from there require you to buy a 20.000 cocktail to be able to see the hole. Nonsense! So there is nothing to see and they make you buy an expensive cocktail, which is not very good by the way. I understand people need to eat and this is how they earn. But that’s another kind of robbery. But that’s how things are on the whole island. We bought a coconut water for 6.000 and a magnet for 6.000, which it enough, I think, for 2 people to see a hole that has nothing impressive.

Firstly this Blow Hole depends on how rough the sea is. On a nice days it’s unlikely to see the water shoot up through the hole in the rock. We hired a buggy and were waved in by an official tourism man to park. He told us there was no charge to see the blow hole and parking was free if we bought a drink. The drink we’re quiet expensive for 2 adults and 2 kids. As we left my husband spotted a sign saying we could pay just 5000 pesos to enter and pointed out that we had been conned into buying drinks. The tourist guide got very aggressive and started using very strong language in front of our 6&8 year old. I asked him to stop cursing in front of the children and he said my husband started it. We argued that he didn’t curse, then the guide threatened to cut my husband with a machete. I asked to see the name on his official tourism guide badge (the badges we’d seen at other venues), he hid it. We paid for our drinks and left very shaken. Be wary!

The blow hole is best when there are not many tourists nd when there is a high tide. It really blows hard and is great for souvenier shopping and cool pcitures.
