This is a small log cabin very close to downtown Eatonton. It is packed full of books and memorabelia. The Docents are very entertaining and full of great information. It is a great view into how things were done so many years ago.

I have passed by this museum for years, this weekend I finally went inside. This was quite surprisingly a neat little stop. It has really turned into a real museum, instead of just a building. What made it best was the museum curator, who was...More

I guess kids today do not get to read Uncle Remus stories any more. This presentation was very well done....

Best $5 admission ticket ! So worth about an hr of time. Covers the life of Joel Chandler Harris' from teenager in Eatonton to a writer for the Atalanta Constitution. For the literary or history curious. Not a place for small children.

I was not aware of the background of where these unique stories came from. It is a fascinating reflection of pre-civil war days culture. Hopefully Virginia is there to help tell the story to you.

Georgia brings Uncle Remus alive for young and old alike. She is so good that I would recommend scheduling a visit around her. The recent addition of the carvings take the museum to whole new level. Stop by today and plan to spend 2-3 hours.

We were welcomed by a docent named "Georgia" who pointed out that her mother was named "Virginia". Quickly we came to realize that Georgia was as much an attraction as the museum itself. She spun her own tales of growing up in Eatonton, Ga. and...More

A little hesitant to go to such a small museum, but our efforts were well rewarded with a wonderful interpreter named Georgia who answered all of our questions plus some, and gave a wonderful interpretation of uncle Remus and the men behind the stories. The...More
