If you liked Downton Abby, you'll enjoy walking through this mansion built on a barrier island off the coast of GA. Still magnificent, despite the age and status as a building seemingly left over from a more opulent time. Tour guides/docents did a great job with the tour. Enjoyable to think of what it would have been like to experience... More

Surviving since 1900, Plumb Orchard is a wonderful glimpse into the wealth of a time long gone. Sitting on the northern part of Cumberland island...this glimpse of Carnegie Spender. a must see visit

We had a private tour of Plum Orchard when staying at the Greyfield Inn. The mansion is beautiful and full of history. You can practically hear the families and children than ran through the halls and down the stairs. If you have the chance to visit, don't pass it up.

We visited here on the Greyfield Inn tour and really enjoyed it. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Hearing the history, seeing the early technology they utilized, and even only 1 of 2 squash tennis indoor courts still remaining in the country was very interesting. The tour is free, but only offered certain times. Unfortunately much of it is run... More

I've been to Cumberland Island many times but the Land & Legacy tour was fabulous! Our tour guide, Mike Fulford, did a great job. He shared his obvious love of Cumberland Island with historical facts and humor. We got to see everything. Learned a lot! Thanks!

This was a stop on our Lands and Legacies Tour of Cumberland Island. Most people in the United States don't think of the "Downton Abbey" type of lifestyle as being part of our history, but if you were the daughter of a Carnegie in that era, you lived the "Abbey" lifestyle in many ways. Money was literally no object. Just... More

Plum Orchard is one of the remaining homes built in the Gilded Age by Lucy Carnegie for her children...located on the remote barrier island of Cumberland...located off the shores of Georgia. It is accessible only by ferry that leaves twice a day from St Marys. It is a grand mansion that was first maintained and now recently completely restored by... More
