If you enjoy walking, biking, and a quiet place to camp, you have to go to Cumberland Island. This Island is untouched, and that's what makes it so beautiful. We got there with the last ferry, so we only had a few hours to explore...More

This place is a real jewel. The beach is the most pristine I have ever seen. Riding bicycles along the canopied sand one-lane roads is a hoot. If you can't manage an over-night, take the ferry from St. Mary's and rent a bicycle for the...More

I camped at Cumberland for 3 days with four of my friends. We reserved our site a month out and could not get any closer to the ferry than hickory hill. Reserve early because the wilderness is truly wilderness. It was probably close to 7...More

As a full disclosure, we opted to stay at the insanely priced Greyfield Inn. We managed to snag a reservation for one night only 10 days before our stay. I loved it. Dinner is a true blast from the past. Cocktail hour begins an hour...More

I did a day trip to the island in college and was enamored by it’s natural beauty. My family loves to tent-camp, and when I found out you could camp there I got my 19- and 14-year old sons on board to go with me!...More

Get tickets on the mainland first before walking a few blocks to the ferry. Gift shop is at the ticket booth. Be aware that you can only travel by foot or bikes unless you pay for a bus tour. Very windy near the seashore so...More

They allow some bikes on the ferry, but space is limited and is first come, first served. I highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. We got ours about 3 weeks early for spring break.
