Warwoman Dell is a great starting point for the Bartram Trail. I am a novice hiker, just started recently, and this was a good hike for me. We headed out from Warwoman Dell, crossing the road and heading to the waterfalls. I noticed immediately that there is quite a bit of trash at the start of the trail. That is really a shame, as this area is beautiful and should be respected. Within a half mile of the trailhead, we arrived at Becky Branch Fall, a small picturesque waterfall with a walking bridge across the creek. Nice place to stop for a photo. If you aren't into hiking, this is a good place to turn around and head back to the car. But if you're up for a little adventure, keep going. After the first bridge, the litter disappears and the true beauty begins. The trail is clearly marked, well maintained and not too challenging; just difficult enough to make you feel like you have accomplished something. Three miles down the trail you will come to spectacular Martin Creek Falls, with a boardwalk and observation deck to enjoy the falls. We used this as our opportunity to rest a minute, take in the sites and head back down the trail. Just under six miles round trip. Great trail for someone just starting out. Of course, the trail continues on for miles and miles through multiple states, so if you're looking for a big adventure, this is a good place to start that as well.

Parked at the trailhead on Hale Ridge Rd. 4.2 miles through the autumnal canopy, past small waterfalls, through fern-carpeted forest, and finally summiting Rabun Bald Mtn with 360 views into SC, NC, & GA. Then 4.2 mi back to the vehicle. A perfect way to spend 4 glorious hours in fall's splendor.

This hike has long been one of my favorites in Georgia. Whether tackling the entire trail or spending a few hours on a certain segment of the trail, you're virtually always assured of seeing something new each time you visit. My favorite stretch of the trail is the portion that leads up to the summit of Rabun Bald. Unlike Brasstown Bald, whose natural splendor has been diluted with the large building at the summit, Rabun Bald's mostly natural state offers amazing 360 degree unspoiled views. A large fire tower at the top places you just above the tree line and you can see clear to the horizon in every direction. The panoramic view is particularly splendid in the fall. Be sure to take plenty of water with you.

Day hikes are easy in Rabun County, out from Clayton, GA. There are waterfalls/rapids that provide numerous photo opportunities. The trail is moderate--lots of flat portions. If you're interested in overnight hiking, camping isn't allowed within 100 feet of the river. Be sure you do your homework before you choose where to start. Portions of the trail are very narrow, with drop offs, so you may have to walk longer than you want to, to get to a place level enough to camp.

I was here to do a hike up to the top of Rabun Bald but our group opted out of it because of the threat of inclement weather. We still managed to complete a 11 mile out and back hike on the Bartram Trail. The hike was challenging because of the rapid ascent at the beginning but lacked any views of note. Next time will return to hike to the top of Rabun Bald.

My hubby found this hike just outside Sky Valley Ga. Access it off hwy 246 and Old mud creek Rd at the Sinclair store. Parking is limited, mostly on the side of the road. The1.6 mile hike up is moderate but it is an incline the entire way. Follow the yellow path for a scenic trail. Once at the top, the view is Awesome! Note: The stairs to the platform are steep! Sit awhile and take in the fresh air and serenity of this place.

We hiked from Beegum Gap to the top on Rabun Bald. The hike from Beegum Gap is listed as 1.6 miles and that seems to be accurate. Although pretty much up hill all the way it wasn't a really difficult hike. I am in my 60s and of moderate physical condition. Even though in the hottest time of the year the hike was cool being almost completely shaded except for the very top. There is a platform at the top which offers fantastic 360 degree views and was breezy so good for cooling down before the return hike. There is another trailhead which can make this in to a 8+ mile hike. From the Beegum Gap parking area you take the left hand path and about .2 of a mile you reach a intersection with the Bartram Trail. You want to go the right to go to Rabun Bald. You can sort of guess that since it immediately starts uphill. Parking area is small. Beegum Gap is very close to Sky Valley Resort area. Will definitely try this hike again in the fall. There was a small group that had camped overnight next to the platform.

you really need to be in shape for this hike....lots of hills ...great views....you can really get your exercise on this hike....

If you are looking for a hike that is beautiful,well blazed and quiet,I would highly suggest this trail. You won't run into the crowds that you might on the AT, but the time on amy part of it is well spent. Well maintained and full of beauty no matter what the season. The hikes both North and South are moderate and difficult.have some climbing, but nothing too
