Very nice view

My daughter and I took a day to just take a light hike up to the tower and Overlook and it was well worth the hike. The view was amazing and we enjoyed every minute of the day.

This was our first camping trip in a popup camper. The camping site was well laid out and level with plenty of room for parking. There was a nice fire ring and picnic table. The park itself is well maintained. The scenery is breath taking. There are many hiking trails. Everyone in our party enjoyed the trek up to the... More

We visited Fort Mountain to go hiking and enjoy the area as we have done in the past two seasons. This is a beautiful state park with well kept trails of all levels of difficulty. We hike with our small dogs so we prefer the easier trails and there are many. There is one beautiful trail around a small lake... More

This was our first visit and we were pleased with the variety this park has to offer. We drove to the beach area and were surprised that the park has many types of boats to rent. We hiked to a lovely waterfall. Bring hiking sticks as the trails have many ups and downs and rocks. There is a flatter trail... More

I have been to this park several times in the past 10 years. I camped with the Boy Scouts in the group camping area in the past. This August I walked the Gahuti trail with my 68 year old mother on a 90 degree day. It is about 9 miles of walking over diverse terrain, most of which is hills,... More

We were very pleasantly surprised with our cottage. It had been renovated and was extremely comfortable. Everything we needed other than food was there. Very comfortable beds and living areas. Our screened in back porch was very cute with adarondak chairs and allowed us to watch deer, wild turkeys and birds with our coffee in the morning. The guys fished... More

My family reserved cottage #6 which was newly renovated and nicer then our home. Two bedrooms and bathrooms, a nice kitchen fully stocked with pots and plates, 4 beautiful beds and nice screened in porch over looking the forest. There were even several family games in the closet. There was towels and soap. We took several hikes including the big... More

After a steep and windy drive in the dark, we arrived at Fort Mountain State Park greeted by a friendly ranger and immediately warned of the active bear population. We stayed in a newly renovated 3-bedroom with two other couples. There was plenty enough room for us but it was a little tight when we got into the kitchen. As... More

This park has everything going for it. It has a nice easy to moderate trail from which you can see and touch the unique walls that once protected the first European settlers in the United States. (Read up on Prince Madoc -- it's fascinating!) There is an amazing overlook on the trail. The lake has a nice sandy beach and... More
