We were here for some late afternoon sunbathing, on the back side of Vlicho beach
Beautiful long sandy beach with a nice atmosphere - or so we thought at first -
At first we were surprised by the signs, but after we still had the smell of feces after changing twice on the beach, everything became clear... we don't recommend it and we certainly won't repeat it!

No2 the Lighthouse, with clear waters, relatively good sand, plenty of natural shadows and direct access by car. Luckily not organized, but it has 1-2 cafes and taverns. Ideal for families and people who want a quiet holiday. In a short distance there is the beach No1, Glyfos, infinitely more beautiful, you need to walk little, crossing the settlement, but it gathers more people.

Lovely little fishing village which reminded me of islands I first visited in the 70’s. It has a really nice traditional feel to it. There is a choice of three beaches with several cafes and tavernas. We visited all three with the main one being our preferred spot.

The sand beach(as you arrive you see Faros beach. On the right of the beach there is another one called Vlychos) is ideal for someone who does not want crowds, beach bars etc. There are trees, which offer you shade.

This is the best beach in the island. It does not have many restaurants and bars but the water is crystal clear !

Glyfos beach in Faros is a beach that you want to stay at all day, and then want to go back to again and again. The water is so clear you can watch the little fish approaching to nibble at your toes. It is a sandy beach with no rocks to navigate on the shore or in the water, and the water is warm and inviting. Trees on the beach provide lovely shade, and folks are very good about sharing that shade. The beach has an overall friendly atmosphere and is a great place to while away the hours, with only the sweet sound of signature goat bells to accompany your beach stay

Combine a visit to Faros with one to Chrissopigi by taking a bus or driving to Faros then walking round to Chrissopigi and back. The paths are in fabulous conditions, the views magnificent and the range of swimming areas good to. Showers in the beach at Chrissopigi near the church end allow you to wash off the salt before walking back.

Faros is a small fishermen's village in the south of Sifnos that our family instantly fell in love with. The beaches are actually three, all within easy walking distance.
Faros beach lies in the center of the eponymous village, close to the little port, the restaurants and the only mini-market.
Glyfo is the best of all three - with tamarisk trees shade, silky sand and crystal clear water. Fassolou is a bit further in the other direction, but no more than 7-10 minute walk. Again nice tree shade and sand. The sea bottom has some stones.
Glyfo is unorganized but only 100-200 meters from civilization. There is a taverna on Fassolou and on Faros you can rent some sunbeds from Gorgona restaurant.
From Glyfo you take path to the famous Panagia Chrysopigi church.
All three beaches have a shower and a changing room.

We happened to get on the wrong bus and spoke to some people on their way to Faros who said it had two beaches and chapel to visit. We arrived late in the day and had a lovey sum n the bay, snorkelled and I fund some ld poetry sheds that I donated to a beachside resident. The local restaurant provided us with some take away fried potatoes as a snack while we soaked up the last rays of sun which sets stunningly over the mountains to the west. The bus service to Apolliania was good and I would recommend anyone to pay a visit.
