On the day we visited, The FLORIDA QUILT MUSEUM had just a few days remaining of its temporary display: Patriotic Quilts. It was wonderful and I'm sure the next quilt grouping will be too. The museum is spacious, has beautiful #2 pine wood flooring and a thoughtful arrangement of quilt examples covering a range of eras.

Visit this museum! Be inspired to lovingly create your own family heirloom - even if your technique is not that of an expert. A quilt crafted with love is its own treasure.

The people are always nice here. They have some beautiful quilts. The price seem high but if you know what goes into making a quilt then it's reasonable priced.

The Florida Quilt Museum is housed in three large rooms, each bursting with quilts and other needlework. There is a changing display; when I was there it was of basket quilts. Several dozen basket quilts, both vintage and modern, were hung, along with well-written descriptions of the quilts. Many other quilts were displayed. Other displays when I was there was a group of old child's sewing machines (one of which brought back fond memories!); a grouping of stunning mini-quilts; and hand-made lace (knitted, crocheted, bobbin). Donna, the volunteer on duty when I was there was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.... a pleasure to chat with. Within a block from the museum is a quilting store jam-packed with fabrics, a small restaurant and soda shop, and an old ice house with displays (time prevented me from going there).
