This small park is dedicated to a Cuban National Hero. Jose Marti was a key figure in the planning and execution of the war that led to Cuba’s independence from Spain.
The park was donated to Cuba by Paulina Pedroso, a prominent female leader of the Cuban revolution and close companion of Marti. It is located at the site of Pedroso’s boarding house, where Marti stayed during his various visits to Tampa and where Pedroso helped Marti recover from an assassination attempt in 1892.
The land was officially gifted to the Republic of Cuba in 1956.
Hours are limited - only open Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 1:30pm.

A nice little park with an Interesting story. I had to laugh when I saw how the chickens destroyed the lawn because I used to have some.

Little Park sitting on what was formerly the Paulina Pedroso. After an attempt to José Marti, his life this was his refuge. Whenever Marti stayed here the Cuban flag can be seen outside the house.

I must admit I was pretty disappointed with this "park".
Having visited Cuba twice and knowing lot about this poet, writer, philosofer and above all liberation fighter against the Spaniards, I expected much more from his immigrated compatriots here.
The "park" is in the middle of the historic Ybor, where many Cubans immigrated and started businesses here. But, it's so small I'd rather define it as a garden.
Beside that, his statue looks like an amateur work and the Cuba map behind like a school kids work belonging to some school exhibition, not to a memorial.
That great man certainly deserved more.

Park in Tampa that is Cuban soil. We couldn't get in as the gates were locked but the grounds look very nice.

This tiny park in Ybor City, dedicated to the great Cuban leader, Jose Marti, is worth a visit. It's locked, most of the time for good reason. The park has soil from all of the Cuban provinces, and is actually deeded to Cuba. Open a few hours a day, and the rest of the time, there is a phone number you can call to come in and walk on Cuban soil, and be up close to the beautiful statue of Jose Marti. If it's locked, it's still worth stopping and looking through the gate!

This small park dedicated to the Cuban nationalist, Jose Marti, is tucked off 8th Street in Ybor City. If you can get there when it is open, you can amazingly walk onto Cuban soil. The land was gifted to the Republic of Cuba in 1956. An interesting little diversion in the middle of Tampa.

The only piece of land in the U.S. ever ceded to a foreign country, this small park is officially Cuban soil under Cuban jurisdiction. Soil from the Cuban Island was imported to this park as explained by the speaker whose historic details regarding Jose Marti were very interesting.

Quaint little park that speaks volume for Cubans, and Cuban-Americans in the U.S. I didn't know much of the history of this park until a recent visit. I can see how Cubans are drawn to this small piece of Cuban soil in Ybor City.

The little park at the edge of Ybor City has a statue of Jose Marti, Our shuttle driver showed as free-roaming chickens. Good place to enjoy a cigar purchased in town.
