We had originally seen the ship from the deck of a cruise ship a couple of years ago and finally returned. Although it is in the process of being restored, there is quite a bit going for it. These ships were built to replace the...More

It is really amazing to think about living on a ship like this, sailing across the ice cold Atlantic and waiting for a torpedo. See a bit of why The Greatest Generation earned the title. I didn't expect to feel this way upon visiting the...More

On a whim, my daughter and I decided to go to tour the Victory at the Port of Tampa today. We did a self-guided tour and made our way around all parts of the ship and we're very impressed with the condition of the Merchant...More

I attended the 30th Anniversary of SOCOM on board this beautiful ship. It truly is a hidden treasure and I think only known by the locals. Please visit her and see Authentic Naval History. The views from all angles of the this ship are breathtaking,...More

We spent about 2 hours aboard the ship, free to explore. I would caution bringing wild or small kids on board as everything is metal with sharp corners. You'd likely need a tetanus shot. The history of the boat is fascinating and the guide is...More

It is right next to the Florida Aquarium which is great. You can walk around the liberty ship with many exhibits inside, guides to answer questions.

First: The nuts and bolts. The ship can be hard to find and there is poor signage. Our GPS signaled three blocks too early and yours might too. Plus, Channelside Drive is also a major cruise port. When the cruise ships are loading or unloading-...More

I always enjoy visiting navy ships. It is amazing to see the crews quarters and the kitchens. Not expensive and a good location. It is right behind the aquarium.

Hard to find among the newer tourist attractions. A lot of stairs so beware if you have mobility issues and it is very hot on board. Attendant at entrance very helpful. Lots of pictures and old uniforms, materials, supplies etc. THere are yellow arrows showing...More

It all depends on the individual person. You can spend as little as a half hour or more than two hours. It's better to go early in the day, as there is no air conditioning.
