I would recommend a stop here before visiting the old city area as you'll get a good introduction to the history and background of the immigrant workers and their conditions. Entry is $4pp and includes a Docent tour of one of the Casita houses just next door. There's a 20min introductory video presentation but I felt the experience would be... More

This museum is a great add-on to a day exploring Ybor City, as it can be perused easily in under an hour. The informational film is not to be missed as it contains many historic photographs not otherwise readily available, and the narration provides a helpful overview of the history of the city. Overall a short but pleasant experience, and... More

We had initially stopped at the visitor center down the street and saw their film and display. They then directed us to this museum which also has a film. It was very informative about the cigar makers. I had never heard of the "lecturer" and was very impressed that the workers were read to while working. We also toured the... More

If you want to get some history of Tampa in particular Ybor come here. The staff is very friendly and I don't think they are always that busy so they would love to see you come in and give you a tour. I have lived in Tampa for a year now and by coming here has answered a lot of... More

We learned a lot we didn't know here. We started by watching a 20 minute very informative video. I wouldn't miss this, it's great. Then we went around the small museum which is housed in an old Cuban bakery building. They even have a couple of old brick ovens in the back that you can peer into. The tobacco industry... More

Visited while looking for ORGT geocaches. Got the cache with no problem and stayed and visited the museum. The house next door was interesting and the video was good. Learned a lot about the history of the area and the people that lived during those times.

Located in an old bakery, it still has the immigrants brick ovens. Start here when you come to tampa and it will explain how the whole place started. It will put the people you meet and the places you go in perspective. While your there stroll 7th avenue and pick up some real cigars and authentic food. Oh, if your... More

This museum is combined with the "LaCasita House Museum" see my review of that for more info. Together they present a wonderful over view of the history of Ybor city.
