I bike or blade there often. If you go not on holidays, it is not too crowded- the only thing their maps may not be up to date, as I was fooled by an exit supposedly on 681 and there is not even a rest stop. Maybe they need more donations?

Our trip to Venice, Florida each fall includes several bike rides on the Legacy Trail. We like to start at the Venice Train Station depot and ride to the end of the trail in Sarasota (a little over 10 miles & back). Great trail and looking forward to its extension into Sarasota some day!

It is safe and often usd by bicyclist runners and is good for rollerbladers!! Or just for a nice walk! You might see alligators turtles squirrels and of course many birds! There... More

we rode 15 miles and loved every bit of the trail. The trail is easily marked. Hope they can extend it up to downtown Sarasota.

This is a trail that can go as long as you want, or as short as you desire. Lots of little stops along the way. You ride at your own pace, and can pack a lunch if you wish. Very scenic.

Florida kills more people on bicycles, by far, per capita, then any other start in the Union. Avoid the risk, and go for a great workout on the Legacy. Be sure to stop and do the half mile play trail at Laurel Road (and get water) at Laurel Park, and similar stop and go into Oscar Scherer, and go see... More

My morning ritual of biking 20 miles. Very safe and quiet, being off the road. No hills, so easy biking. Go as far as you want.
