Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary provides a sanctuary "for life" for the exotic animals currently calling the sanctuary home. Our goal is to create habitats that mimic native environments and are complete with a staff that can provide daily behavioral, sensory, and manipulative enrichment which is the basis for a happy healthy animal in captivity. As we grow and open our habitat to more rescues we will provide the same excellent care while educating the public.

We are so fortunate to have this animal habitat in our town. My grandchildren loved feeding the bears and tigers. It was the first time I ever saw a liger (cross between a lion and tiger. There is also a petting zoo and other animal attractions. It is an entertaining and informative experience for all ages.

I am honestly shocked at the overall glowing reviews. If you care at all about animal welfare, you will be disgusted by this place. I took my family here during a vacation, when we were looking to fill an afternoon. I came across this and was excited--we don't like zoos, because there are some questionable practices we don't agree with--but... More

My kids and I had an awesome time here! My daughter loved that she could feed the animals (from a distance using a pole) but it was awesome to be able to get so close to the animals.

The family that runs BCH takes good care of the animals here. The big cat cages are clean and have very little odor. Same for all the wild animals. they have a lot of different kinds of bears, a cute bird show, and a few examples of many different animals. At 2:00 every day the owner puts on a show... More

Attended the sanctuary and rescue and watched the Sunday 1:00 parrots in paradise show. About 1/2 hour of fun with beautiful parrots. 2:00 cats encounter show was a full hour of amazing Lions and tigers with trainer, Clayton, interesting and amazing! Photos with one of the cats after the show, $10. charge. Large grounds, walk around and view monkeys, bears,... More

This isn't an amusement park. There is no ginormous parking lot, no castle, no rides, no characters. This is the real world where real people have dedicated their lives to the care of hundreds of animals discarded by others. This is the last chance for most of these animals to live. Clayton and his family are amazing. These people are... More

On one hand, I am very grateful for places like this which provide food, vet care (I presume) and safety for these big cats that are displaced for various reasons. Yes, they are keeping them alive, and they look well, and that is something. Maybe it's even wonderful. However, I have been to other big cat sanctuaries that make much... More

This was a great day. Only open certain days and only from noon to 4 pm. This is a rescue center for large and unique animals. A must see, a charity you will not only want to give to but just your admission fee allows you to assist them. The put on shows with these animals who have come to... More

This is a very well run facility with clean, spacious environments for beautiful, healthy looking animals. It is not a zoo but a sanctuary for animals who could not survive in the wild. While many dislike seeing such magnificent animals in captivity, the organizers have managed to make an attractive, open air home for their residents. There are a couple... More

The tigers and lions, and even a liger are just magnificent. Sarasota is so fortunate to have such a sanctuary so close that takes care of these fascinating and beautiful animals, and provides entertainment to the public and tourists. It's a must if you have children. The animals are trained for a show and their skills will amaze you. An... More
