Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary provides a sanctuary "for life" for the exotic animals currently calling the sanctuary home. Our goal is to create habitats that mimic native environments and are complete with a staff that can provide daily behavioral, sensory, and manipulative enrichment which is the basis for a happy healthy animal in captivity. As we grow and open our habitat to more rescues we will provide the same excellent care while educating the public.

I laughed at the review that said the turtles were dirty....seriously you should have went to the shell factory. Anyway they are doing a good job and the animals are treated well. It was worth the price knowing it goes to their program.

For adults and kids this is a welcome reprieve from the beach! The facility is not fancy, but the animals are in superb health and the love for them from the staff is obvious. Don't miss the 2:00pm Big Cat Session. You'll also find out...More

A good place to visit with for families or anybody. A artistic and whimsacal at the same time. Going here brings smiles to faces. Different and a must see when in Sarasota.

An afternoon of good fun for the kiddos and the grandparents. Got to feed a llama and see many animals! My only comment would be that it would be good if they had morning hours. They are only open in the afternoons and only on...More

We went there January 2017. The large turtles were so covered with beige dust that children would probably paint them beige in art class at school. They should wash away the sandy dust so children see the real colors of the turtles.

My husband and I decided to go there based on TA reviews. The compound is in a rural part of Sarasota county and provides plenty of space for the animals that reside there. It really is a big cat habitat in that they have over...More

The facilities, number of animals, care they provide are just right for a nice family outing. I thought some of the animal show jokes were a little off putting, but otherwise we had a nice time.
