The Ringling family has done so much for circus, the history is very important to be aware of. Now that the circus is in decline, it's a good opportunity to see so much of the history in the place where it took place.

Free Mondays are great. Access to the Art Museum and the gardens (& the first floor of mansion, I think). Mostly 17th century paintings (Peter Paul Rubens), some antiquities in another section, small Asian room. Not as diverse as some museums, but definitely worthwhile.

I went for the entire tour as you can go for a tour on the first two floors, the second part consists of the private rooms period piece Furnishings, even a tower on top. I would rate this excellent if you like period homes.

Third Monday of the month Ringling by the Bay. Live band and dancing on the patio, watching the sunset. The Circus Museum holds costumes, props, train cars and memorabilia of all types. The miniature circus is extraordinary! The Art Museum is heavy on Renaissance, but continually has special exhibitions that are worthwhile. There's a new Asian Museum as well. The... More

Number one tourist attraction in Sarasota and ranks just below Disney in Florida. Enjoy the house that John and Mable lived in, see the miniature circus exhibit and other circus artifacts or take in the marvelous art exhibits. Many buildings and a way to spend at least 3 and 1/2 hours.

As a resident in SRQ for -(gulp!), over 30 years, I have been fortunate to frequently visit this refuge which was the playground of circus magnate John Ringling - his legacy lives on with an amazing art museum, circus museum and the lovely 1920's mansion he and his love Mable created... with one of the best marble terraced views of... What a wonderful day! The art collection the circus memorabilia - WOW! The grounds are beyond beautiful and impeccably kept. Make sure you tour the house it's story is fascinating. The view of the bay is breathtaking! Even more nostalgic now that the circus has officially ended after 145 years....

A wonderful museum and circus history. I would allow 2 days to see most everything. John & Mable Ringling left a fabulous legacy to Sarasota Florida. Monday is free but very crowded.

The Ringling is on a beautiful property on Sarasota Bay. There are gardens, an art museum, and a circus museum with a huge miniature old circus display. The Ringling House is also worth a tour.

Our Group met to have a guided tour of The Ringling focusing on symbolism in the tapestries, paintings, sculptures. This two hour tour of the exhibits was wonderful. Our guide was arrticulate and knowledgeable. The outdoor gardens and sculptures, some hidden beneath the Banyan trees, are splendid, and don't forget C'a D'Zan and the Circus Museum. This is a must for visitors to Sarasota.... More
