I love Weedon Island! The trails are beautiful and always a blast to explore! I love finding wildlife or finding a trail that I haven't walked yet. You can either use the boardwalk or find a trail of your own, but neither disappoint! Always a beautiful view of the water, even on a rainy day.

We spent a half day kayaking through the mangrove swamps of Weedon Island Preserve, a nice little gem tucked close to town. There are walking trails and a fishing pier, so saddle yourselves up and go have a nice adventure. Water and sunscreen are highly recommended. Just do it!

With several miles of trails you can spend an hour or many hours exploring this area. There is also a fishing area and a spot to launch kayaks or canoes. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Make sure that you bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent.Be prepared to do some walking. Wooden walkway through the mangrove boonies that you can walk or bike. I live close by and have been there many times over the years. Activities include kayaking [rentals], picnic tables, fishing although I've never really caught anything there worth wile and we're talking a period... More

We came on a Wednesday during spring break. 20mph winds, but we put in at the kayak launch and stayed left to go through the mangroves. Very unique, fun experience. If you go, make sure to take a small boat paddle or a kayak paddle that breaks down into two pieces. The trails can get too narrow for a full... More

Whe visited the preserve on Tuesday, visitor center is open from Thursdays through Sundays so we didn't see everything. It was hot and sunny when we were there. We just walked up to the observation tower for a view of the preserve. There wasn't much shade in the park. I think the next time we go it will be on... More

What a lovely park. I've lived in this area for years and wish I had discovered this sooner. We went to t talk from an archaeologist then a tour that took us to an excavation site where we saw and ancient midden. I learned so much about the original people that lived here thousands of years ago (before the Europeans... More

Verynice place to walk, kayak and commune with nature in a mangrove Tampa Bay estuary. It can be dry or wet but if you walk the unimproved trails like the "Boy Scout Trail" or many others it can be both. Remember, this is a Florida nature area and can have some wild Flora and Fauna: For example, we saw our... More

The Pinellas County Park System wisely has set aside the Weedon Island area for preservation. Yes, it is a vast area of raw nature with little interference from man, but more important it is the ancient home of the indigenous peoples of the area and still includes the ceremonial and spiritual grounds of their descendants. There are safe trails and... More

We visited last Monday for the first time ever. Walked about 2 miles of boardwalks and saw some wildlife, but it was the middle of the day, so earlier or later would be better. A very well maintained park, in a lovely setting, but disappointed that the nature center is only open Thursday thru Sunday. Guess it's those darn budgets.... More
