About
This place is temporarily closed. Historic Tours of Flagler College highlight the architectural heritage of the former Hotel Ponce de Leon, a nationally designated historic landmark building, built by Henry Flagler in 1888. The tour begins in the Rotunda, a 64-foot domed ceiling supported by eight ornately carved oak pillars. The interior dome displays stunning murals by George Maynard. The 800-seat Dining Hall boasts an elliptical barrel-vaulted ceiling pierced with Tiffany stained-glass windows, musicians’ galleries, and carved oak chairs imported from Austria. Today students casually take their meals seated on these chairs.

04/10/24 - We liked this tour of the college, we like history and this college was great for it. Our guide was a student named, Cheyenne, she told us some good history. We did see the dinning hall, the sun dial water fountain, and the Tiffany Stained Glass Widows. I just read that in July of 2022, there was a water pipe that burst and caused some damage, when the workers opened the walls they found Thomas Edison's signature in the wall. I think that was pretty cool.

Then tour consists of access to the side of the dining room. Period. You can visit the courtyard and lobby for free and read all the details yourself. No access to the building, nor rooms, nor parapets. Beautiful building, TOO BAD THE TOUR DOESNT SHOW YOU ANY OF IT!

The architecture of Flagler College was truly astonishing. It is really incredibly beautiful and I could have spent the day just staring at the courtyard.

We had a very nice student-led tour with a energetic and well-informed young woman. However, it was a very brief tour. Granted the tickets were fairly priced and we were warned that part of the tour was under construction.

However considering how lovely the building is I would encourage Flagler to expand the tour. We saw only the the entrance rotunda and the student lunchroom. I realize it is a working college but access to the upper floors, water towers and a former hotel room would have been great.

The best $14 I spent! The Flagler College Legacy Tour is really a great way to learn the history behind St. Augustine becoming what it is today. The student tour guide was very knowledgeable about the architecture, the design and history of this beautiful place. Well worth the trip. Parking is tricky so plan accordingly.

My girlfriend and I took the tour today and absolutely loved it. Cheyanne, a student at the college, was our tour guide and was awesome. I’m a Florida native, and never knew the history. I loved hearing Cheyanne tell us about it, and loved seeing all the beautiful Tiffany chandeliers and stained glass.

Cheyenne did a fantastic job showing us around her college. She was very knowledgeable about not only the college but also Henry Flagler. Her good sense of humor was a treat. Flagler College seems like a great place to attend. The students did not seem to mind the tours coming through and everyone was cordial. tour was a good overview of Henry Flagler and the founding of Flagler College.

We went for our first tour of Flagler and our guide was a Sophomore named Kaitlyn. She did amazing and had a ton of knowledge. My daughter asked her personal questions about being a student and she had no problem answering. The campus and its history was great. Worth the money!!
