Interesting place, a lot to learn. But it is all about the guide, our guy was a 10. Made you feel the entire experience, included the whole group in stories, interacted well with children. He is pictured in the photos with white hair

There is scaffolding surrounding the entire building right now so it's hard to get an idea of what it looks like. But the tour still go on and the tour guide Marcos was very good in character.
Was undergoing reconstruction. Was not able to take the tour. Walked around a bit. Looked impressive. Whole area very touristy but seems to have been well done.

Disturbing because of the way prisoners were treated and the conditions they lived in, but those were different times and different attitudes. Fun because the guides make it fun. They try to get you to think about what life would have been like back then...More
I love going to the Old Jail. I particulary love going on the ghosts and graveyards tour of the jail. The actors there are so remarkable, and the jail is so spooky after dark. Plan on spending at least an hour there.
