Beautiful and Peaceful

This little shrine is so peaceful and calm. You can see the history of Greek Culture in Florida absolutely free. Their shrine also has a small chapel which was all painted by hand.

step down a passageway of the main pedestrian street and you discover the story of the first Greek colony in the new world. Nice small replica of an Orthodox sanctuary

Both spiritual and historical. This is both a museum and a shrine with new frescoes (I didn't know artists were still painting them) in the Byzantine style, painted directly on wet plaster on the walls and ceilings. The history part was so well done, I spent longer than I meant to (annoying my family). You learn all about the Greeks... More

In the middle of St. George St with all the tourist hustle and bustle is a gem! Lovely Greek Orthodox Shrine - well worth stopping to see the shrine for some meditation and peaceable reflection.

This was unexpected to see in historic Saint Augustine. The artwork here is incredible. The inner outdoor courtyard is also very nice. Inside the shrine, they provide candles for you to light for whichever prayers you wish to offer. There is also a small gift shop offering interesting goods for purchase.

The artwork is stunning, and admission is free. There is an exhibit and a movie, but if short on time, at least check out the shrine. It is fabulous.

You would never expect an Orthodox Monastery in a place like St. Augustine. Small, quaint and spiritual... a bit of history and calm in the middle of a tourist area. Recommend.
