About
The "Medieval Torture Museum" reminds us just how much suffering humanity can inflict in the name of cause and justice when the right tools are placed in the hands of fanatics, madmen and tyrants. The exhibit fills more than 5,000 sq. ft. Spend an hour here and you will better know the nature of fear. Are you brave enough?

Would not recommend for the little ones. Very graphic, but for adults it would be fine. Museum was larger than expected, but the price was very steep as it was the highest price exhibit in the area. Finished in less than an hour, so keep that in mind regarding the price, 3 adults was over $75.

We loved the museum. They welcomed our dog to walk through with us. Very informative and impressive collection. There is an audio narrative that is played on your cell phone that hindsight I would have brought ear buds to listen to it bc everyone playing it out loud was distracting.

A place where history and whimsy entwined.
With gadgets and gizmos from days gone by,
You’ll marvel and gasp as you wander and spy.

From racks that twist to the iron maiden,
Each exhibit’s a tale of the dark and the laden.
But fret not, dear visitor, for this is no fright,
It’s a journey through time with a historical light.

The guides are witty and share tales with flair,
Of times long past when life was quite rare.
You’ll laugh and you’ll learn, and maybe even cheer,
For this museum’s a gem, with a touch of sincere.

So step through the doors and take in the sights,
Of medieval methods and historical frights.
The Medieval Torture Museum, a trip worth the fuss,
For a whimsical look at history’s harsh plus!

What a surprise! I really thought this museum would be a dud. It was in fact the opposite! I found it to be informative, macabre and well set out. Each form of torture came with a 'real life' story which took you on a journey that many would not like to take!!! Definitely not for kids and even some of the stories made me cringe, but it was still an interesting 2 hours. Step back to a time of witchcraft, torture and twisted minds!

This was a part of a bachelorette weekend trip and was more fun than we thought! Insightful, terrifying (in a good, knowledgeable way lol) and overall a different yet fun experience from the norm in town. Definitely recommend (not for the squeamish though).

It's unbelievable what was done to people in the past! The museum is full of history and reproductions of instruments of torture. I recommend downloading the app to hear the explanations throughout the museum. It gives you more information than you can get walking through the museum. I also recommend stopping at a spot to get trolley tickets and picking up a Things To Do booklet as it has coupons for discounted pricing.

The museum I recently visited was an incredible experience. The exhibitions were well-curated, showcasing a wide range of artifacts and works of art from different time periods and cultures. The displays were informative and engaging, making it easy to learn and appreciate the history and significance of each piece.
The museum's architecture was stunning, with high ceilings, natural light, and spacious galleries. The layout was well thought-out, allowing visitors to easily navigate the exhibits and take their time exploring each one.
In addition to the permanent collections, the museum also hosted special exhibitions that were truly remarkable. The interactive displays and multimedia presentations were particularly impressive, providing a unique and immersive experience.
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, always Willing to answer questions and provide additional

We walked up during the busy New Years Eve weekend and were able to get right in around 2 pm. We toured the medieval torture museum and did not add on the micro art gallery. We asked for the audio tour because we had read it was good and I’m so glad we did. The audio tour was really helpful in learning about all the disturbing exhibits. When we bought our tickets there was no mention of an audio tour being available, so you have to know to ask for it. We took our 15 and 17 year old kids and they enjoyed it but I would not recommend taking younger kids. The content is not appropriate and the exhibits are graphic.

Honestly I wasn’t too impressed. I really didn’t expect much out of it and that’s what I got. You have basically one floor of items to look at and it took us about 20 minutes. Every torture device or tool comes with and explanation of when and where it originated but it didn’t tell you how it was used. Some of the pieces you can figure it out by looking but some you could not. I got the feeling that if I’d paid extra to get the audio tour, it would’ve told me how some of the pieces worked. I also found it to be a little too dark in some of the rooms. I realized the owners are trying to create a specific atmosphere but in some of the corners it’s so dark it’s hard to read the descriptions. Also some of the rooms are not very large and you can only fit one couple in there without being right on top of each other. Not too great but not too bad. I probably wouldn’t recommend this place to any of my friends. For my wife and I, it was about $29.

Hello, I'm sorry you did not enjoy the museum as much as you may have hoped. Our museum does normally take about 30-40 minutes but since it is self guided it can easily take less or more time. And regarding the descriptions of the pieces, the audio guide does give a bit more insight as to how the devices were used through storytelling but we do understand the plaques could use some updating or rewriting. Also our staff in the gift shop is always happy to answer any questions you may have had or even give more in depth information into a device or method you were interested in. Lastly with the darkness, we did go for a creepy, dark atmosphere but we never intend for it to be so dark you cannot read. I have noticed some of our spotlights are aimed at the wrong spot or a candle or two near the plaques might be off so we will try and improve on this. I hope you enjoyed your time in St Augustine.
