Unfortunately, the ferry to the fort has been closed since the hurricane in 2016. A nice view of the fort from the island.

Always well informed tour guides. Have been 3 years in a row. Fort is very well made and easy to walk as long as you are careful.

I happened upon the fort this afternoon and was glad I did. There were plenty of staff, including re-enactors on hand. I got to talk with several knowledgeable staff and learned about early Saint Augustine history, saw a musket demonstration and a bunch of other cool stuff. There were also several fisherman on the beach and it looked like they... More

It would be easy to hurry past this little gem of the Park Service. Don't make this mistake. Located near Highway 1 and Interstate 95 south of St. Augustine, this fort was used by the Spanish to protect their oolony in Florida against the French. When we visited in February, repairs were underway on the dock which was severely damaged... More

A volunteer gave an amazing guided nature walk. Learned about the flora fauna and ecosystems. The big disappointment was the ferry terminal to the fort being closed indefinitely related to hurricane damage from October 2016. Had to enjoy the view of rattlesnake island from the opposite shore. Hope they fix the ferry soon .

We enjoy taking our friends there when they come to town. It's a unique experience with a short river cruise combined with the historic monument, which is thoroughly described.

First make your reservation for the free boat ride. Then walk the boardwalks through the woods and see the local plants and occasional critter. The boat to the fort is short but fun. Explore all around the fort, inside and out. Try to imagine living there for 30 days with no bug spray, little food. See the storks play near... More

Quite a walk to get there but it is worth it. To see how this has survived all these years and to learn of the uses and strategy used in how it was built is amazing

If you are a visitor or even just New in town, this is a sight that I would recommend as a must! It is a history lesson as well as an unusual National Park experience. You should get there ahead of time and get a ticket (FREE) from the ranger because occupancy on the ferry is limited. The ferry (free)... More
