This is the first non-wooden fort. It's part of Florida's and the United States of America's history.

The Castle and fort is an interesting place with significant history and fortunately it has been preserved and well maintained. There is room for improvement but it is an interesting place to visit.

We enjoyed visiting the fort. This was not our first visit, but definitely the highlight for us for visiting historic St. Augustine. Bring your National Park pass for free admission.

The Fort has a very interesting history. We especially enjoyed the talk about treatment of the Native Americans while they were prisoners at the Fort . The canon demonstrations were exciting.

We used our annual National Parks Pass and received free admission saving us $20. We spent about an hour on the self-guided tour and that was plenty of time. Great views from the top of the water and surrounding area.

It’s elevated above and right on the bay, so it’s definitely windy, but the interior of the fort is blocked by the walls, and there are many little rooms to visit with interesting artifacts.
