After living in the local for over 15 years, finally we found this hidden gem in the city. The gnome garden is carefully taken care of by papa Gnome. The beautiful tropical plants and trees are managed by volunteers everyday and there is no admission fee. Stop by if you are in town.

Very nice meandering paths through the location. Easy walking for all. The concrete dinosaurs are fun (and have informative signs nearby). The gardens are very nice and sectioned into categories: herbs, cacti, succulent, water, etc.
So relaxing under the shade of the live oaks throughout!

Really cool. You get to see some ruins of a sugar mill and some history of it. This site was also where a failed theme park happened many years ago. A very nice experience. You could do it all in 1 hour if you just look around, but I recommend reading some of the history of the place and ensure you take it all in.

Sugar Mill gardens is a great place to walk around and see how volunteer gardeners have transformed a former (historical) sugar mill into many beautiful gardens, each with their own theme. There is also an area just for children. They do sell plants and honey, so make sure to take some cash with you. This is also a "hiding" area for the painting rock group named Volusia County Rocks (VCR).

These gardens are extensive and lush! There are multiple trails that lead through a dense and beautiful forest filled with diverse trees and plant species.
It truly feels like you’re walking through a jungle far away from civilization.
The Sugar Mill ruins show the history of the land and how sugar was made back then.
Other flower gardens and dinosaur statues dot the landscape making it an adventure for children.
Very relaxing and plenty of shade - even in 88 degree heat it felt pleasant.
Perfect place for a walk, lunch, date, or family adventure.

I live 40 minutes North of Sugarmill Plantation and Gardens and after a family outing we decided to stop by here before heading back home. I'm glad we did because it is a great little place to explore. There is a lot of pretty scenery to take in and it is great for capturing some nice photos. The ruins are interesting and you get to learn some history as there are spots with some descriptions written on what you are looking at and the history behind it. We will visit again.

Probably it was the time of year that we visited (late April) and Probably because the volunteers hadn't been giving of their time due to Covid but the garden did show neglect. We thought the information on the Sugar Plantation ruins was very educational. It was something to do but I Probably wouldn't recommend it at the top of my list.

Very nice historical and botanical park, tucked away in a neighbourhood in Port Orange. There are some displays associated with the sugar mill, but, for us, the real attractions are the walking paths throughout the park -- just wandering around for a while is very relaxing. The last time that we were there, unfortunately, there was a broken bee hive near one of the paths, without warning, and we got a number of bee stings.

Nice walking trails and some interesting historic information. No entry fee, but a donation is encouraged. There was a wedding taking place when we went, so parking was scarce. It was a nice experience, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit it again.

Was impressed with the ruins of the sugar mill and how they had been preserved and explained. In mid-Winter the rest of the gardens were fairly unimpressive with plenty of downed leaves covering everything. There was a volunteer crew there cleaning things up a bit the morning I stopped by. I can imagine that the small gardens are more impressive in warmer months with green leaves and flowers.

In June, there were some plants for sale!

everything was flat, but bathrooms were a little tight for wc, otherwise pretty easy access to most of the main paths
