Naval Live Oaks Visitor Center is worth an hour's visit but not much more. In the summer you might like to go swimming at the beach as I’ve heard it’s more protected than the gulf-side beaches, but we were there on a rainy April day and even the boardwalk trails were not appealing. The exhibits and signs in the visitor... More

This location is amazing. Who knew shipbuilders used the natural curvatures of trees to make specific parts. I learned a lot about forest management and tree type for building ships. Well worth the time to walk and visit, very informative.

Quieter, less sand, showers, covered picnic areas, trails, better fishing. I enjoy this more than the busy beaches. Great place for small children to investigate the water, with smaller waves.

Unless you are a fan of Oak trees - and hundreds of those - these are not worth at all. I mean, it is a nice dense foliage - we looked at it and appreciated the effort. What next?

Stop for a short visit. Among other things you will understand why cannonballs bounced off of Old Ironsides. The displays and information in the visitor center are fascinating in themselves. If you're game, hit the trails for even more to see. Free admission to this National Park Service site. Leave a donation.

The Naval Live Oaks Reservation was established when ships of the line were made of oak. Live oak was one of the toughest and most resilient wood.and ideal for man of war vessels. The information center here has a few exhibits explaining live oaks, ship building, and the area. It's staffed with rangers that are knowledgeable. The reservation is on... More

While sightseeing in Pensacola Beach area we drove into the Naval Live Oak Reservation. Being from the north did not know what a Naval Live Oak Tree looked like. The reservation was beautiful. Plan to return and spend more time walking the area.

When I first moved here I used to love to go here and just sit and look over the water , it was so quiet and peaceful...it's still a lovely place to go and relax, take a picnic and sit by the water, walk along the shoreline and through the woods and the little Boardwalk..

Nice park facilities on the Sound side with an interesting exhibit on why it's named Naval Oaks. Great boardwalk for handicap access. Nice trail that winds through the woods along the Sound and usually shady in the summer. It's a frequent place for me to go when I want to go somewhere that I feel safe as a solo traveler... More

These live oaks that are part of the Naval Restoration are sprawling out over the roads on your way to Gulf Breeze. It's an amazing drive!
