I got there after official closing hour. I took a ten minute walk and saw plants that were new to me. I was concerned that the guards would close the fence and I could not get out so I turned around before going to the end of the boardwalk. I plan to go back earlier to see the entire path. It was the first time that I got to be inside of a large open area in Florida so I got to see what the place looked like before the humans took over.

Chapel Trail Nature Preserve is a 460-acre wetland/marsh. There is no admission charge, and there is a fairly sizeable parking lot. I think in the nearly 10 times we have been here, there has never been more than four or five cars in the lot.
There is a boardwalk, not very long, that meanders through the wetland. We have only visited in January or February and always been surprised by the lack of waterfowl and wading birds. It looks like an ideal habitat for them. The only bird that we have seen regularly, i.e., on every visit we have ever made, is the Purple Swamphen.
You can rent canoes on Saturday. And, along the boardwalk, there are quite a number of signs depicting and with text explaining the flora and fauna of this wetland.

The boardwalk is 0.70 miles round trip and very well built. Birds, turtles, foxes, snakes and lots of foliage can be seen on this lovely walk. A gem for sure!

Love this place. I bring my camera and capture beautiful pictures.
This is NOT a dog park, bike park, picnic park or launching park.
It is a NATURE TRAIL with canoe rentals on Saturday only 9am to 12pm. A boardwalk to walk on. Beautiful landscape

This is a 5-minute walk to see absolutely nothing. You will see more wildlife on the side of the road on your way there. Don't waste your time unless you want to stretch your legs.

A boardwalk takes you around the nature preserve. You can see many birds and turtles as you walk around. Canoe rentals are available at set times. No admission - plenty of parking.

Who would expect to find an opportunity to quietly commune with nature surrounded by development. The Chapel Trail Park Nature Preserve has canoes available for rental which allows you to venture out into the local Everglades ponds/wetlands and find a small space of solitude. If you want to enjoy the peacefulness of the preserve without canoeing, there is a good length of boardwalk which allows you to just relax and enjoy the native birds in flight. Beware however of the extensive mosquito population. If you are lucky, you may catch sight of turtles and peacocks which are plentiful in the area as well.

We go about twice a month. We ride our bikes to the Preserve and then walk or jog the trail. Quiet enough to enjoy nature, see birds.

My wife and I happened by this interesting place while driving out to US27 on Sheridan St. It has a small parking area with ramps up to a broad walk that extends out into a marsh area which seems quite expansive for the confinements of the suburbs where it is located. It is West Pines the way it was before the human expansion. I found it quite appealing to just be amongst nature and I did not have to travel far to detach. It is FREE and open during daylight hours.
