Turkey Creek is a wonderful sanctuary with a nature center with restrooms and a picnic pavilion. The boardwalks are exceptional with viewing platforms and benches and there are multiple dirt pathways off the boardwalk if you’d like to extend your walk There is a jogger’s route, too, with exercise stations at intervals along the trail. All have ample shade. There is plenty of parking nearby. We’ve also paddled up Turkey Creek from Palm Bay which takes you through the sanctuary. A truly beautiful area with opportunities to see turtles, fish, alligators and manatees.

This is a hidden gem of a nature park. Peaceful with a long boardwalk parts of it along the Turkey creek. Well managed and entrance is free. Ample parking and very friendly park staff. There was warning of horse flies, but we were dressed appropriately (pants, and lone sleeves). Did not encounter any flies. Enjoyable couple of hours.

What a wonderful find! With three different trails (the boardwalk, the exercise trail and the sandy trail) this is a beautiful place to visit.

Nice trail for a sunny day. Most of the trail is forested so there’s plenty of shade. Lots of turtles sunning in the creek. Its pretty easy to tailor the trails for a walk as short as 1/2 hour or as long as 1 1/2 hour

We were flying out of the local airport so stopped here enroute for a little walk. There was free parking. There are a variety of routes you could take on the boardwalk. We did the loop. We were lucky to spot lots of gophers tortoises alongside other tortoises and fish. We enjoyed about an hour in the park.

My daughter just moved to the area and we were checking out the sights. We met a lovely lady in the office who was enthusiastic about the park. The walkway was great and the park was well groomed. The loop around was a nice scenic tour! Definitely nice place to spend an afternoon. The childrens programs looked informative.

Well, we planned on going to the Turkey Creek Sanctuary for a special tour they had this morning! So, from home - we walked over, walked with the tour, & enjoyed every moment of it! From the little girl who dropped her pencil through the boardwalk planks and had Superman climb over the railing and under the planks to get it for her, to seeing everyone else enjoy the education we received from Lisa the tour guide! Have you ever seen a Witch's Broom? We got a few photos of one! Wild Blueberries, Wild Olives, Oh, so many things! Come and take a walk with us! We'll even show you an Awesome Tree that the Swiss Family Robinson Family would LOVE!! You'll see plenty of Animals & plenty of Awesome Plants as well...

Turkey Creek Kayak Launch at Briar Creek Blvd. just off of Port Malabar Road

Date of trip 7-4-2022

We are local so we have been going to the Turkey Creek Preserve for nearly 30 years. The boardwalks meander through wild, natural Florida habitat (as wild as it can be for and inner-city sanctuary) such at pine/palmetto forest and oak hammocks. We usually see many native birds, bugs, lizards, turtles, and racoons, occasionally we see snakes, alligators and manatee’s. Manatee’s are seen more often while kayaking along with gators, mullet, turtles, and tarpon.
This trip was just kayaking the creek. The parking lot is a small dirt patch on the side of the road, the path is a few hundred feet and soft sand. The mountain bike path crosses right where you have to maneuver down a steep incline to the water, WATCH OUT FOR HIGH SPEED BIKERS!

This day we saw many turtles, birds, a manatee and several tarpon. It was beautiful and peaceful trip with only a couple of other paddlers.

What would make the kayak access a 5 star review? Move the mountain bike trail or require the bikes to stop and walk across the kayak access. It crosses the kayak access exactly where the bank is the steepest and hardest to negotiate getting a vessel in or out of the creek. The bikes come at full speed, down hill (both sides, the access is the low point), and around a blind curve. We have escaped what could have been very nasty injuries by jumping out of the way and sustaining minor scratches. Some people may wish for a paved or gravel access or bathrooms however, I think the lack of both help keep the amount of paddlers down and allowing for a less crowded creek paddling experience!
