Absolutely fascinating museum. My whole family thoroughly enjoyed this trip from Granddad to Grandaughters. The Reception ladywas very helpful and advised us to start at the top and work down and we learned the history of Florida from prehistoric times to the present. There is a sound studio for the children to use.It was an excellent day.

I was actually shocked at how nice this place was. They do a great job of explaining Central Florida's history and are in a good location in downtown Orlando. I can't comment on the traveling exhibit we went to because it's probably not there anymore, but I highly recommend it for a drop-in if you're ever in the area.

A pleasant place to spend a couple hours, but here's some complaints I wish the center would tackle: Parking nearby is a real challenge, all metered and time-limiting. Walking to the museum takes you and your family right through the sorriest section of downtown (when I left this last time, two men were fighting outside near the bus stop). The... More

A group of high school friends (from an Orlando high school) took a tour of the History Center and we were able to have a docent lead us around. She knew so much about the Center and its exhibits. We went specifically to see the Icons of Orlando exhibit, which were 50 things of significance to Orlando voted on by... More

(1) This is about: the history of Orlando and the surrounding area (which are in Orange County, Florida). Located in the heart of downtown Orlando—a part of town that many tourists don’t see. (2) Admission: $US 12. (3) Overall Assessment: Charming museum explaining the early development of Orange County. (4) Highlights: The early settlement of Orange County, including displays that... This museum has four floors of permanent and mobile exhibits. There is a lot to see and read on each floor. I really enjoyed learning about the citrus plants and Disney World information at the museum. I recommend this museum if you are genuinely interested in learning about Florida's history.

An interesting, small city museum..my personal favourite items were the bears (a polar and a grizzly) near the entrance.

What a beautiful outing at the History Center. Lots to see and learn about the history of Florida. Great for children who are at the learning and remembering age. Nice, clean place to spend a few hours in.

From explanations and exhibitions of aboriginal clam shell middens to the Space Age, it's all here in this museum. The highlights are the Florida Cracker (settlers) exhibit that emphasizes their love of independence and rugged ability to live off the land, the history of the orange industry underscoring the contributions of Harry P. Leu, Dr. Phillips, and Henry Sanford, and... More
