This is a great place to see manatees IN THE WINTER (It is a common out-of-stater mistake to try to see manatees in warm weather at Blue Springs. They enter the spring area in the cold winter weather when the spring water is warmer than the St Johns river. Thing of it as a manatee hot spa!) However in the summer... More

Overall excellent and highly recommended. Sites are generally not very level, but there is good privacy, fire ring and large picnic table. There are three hosts who keep the three bathrooms spotless, two of which are renovated and are heated with a pay washer/dryer each. State park opens at 8AM, which means campers have the manatee viewing area to themselves... More

It was an unusually cold February and an unusually windy day, but the park and it's special guests, the manatees, did not disappoint. We were treated to several dozen manatees swimming in the clear emerald waters so close, we could almost touch them. Lots of families and couples gathering on the walkway to take photographs, but we never felt we... More

Saw 20 manatees in the springs. Hundreds were in the the springs. Relaxes. Some tourists but inexpensive and real. Kayaks can also be rented.

When you have had enough of Mickey and Harry, this place is the place to go. It's about an hour from Orlando in the highway towards Daytona You can swim in the fresh water springs at certain times of the year. We went in February, so he swimming was closed due to manatees being present. There was hundreds of them... More

Our trip to Blue Springs State Park was simply amazing. Walking along the water we saw many majestic Manatee lounging along the shore. There were a variety of fish visible in the clear blue waters allowing us to experience incredible nature at its best. The grounds are impeccably kept, very inviting and easily maneuverable. Quite a wonderful day to say... More

This is a wonderful way to spend the day. They have grills in the park so you can cook lunch right there. You can also rent kayaks, and canoes. there are many types of fish swimming around. When we where there 110 manatees where just hanging around.

We rented canoes and enjoyed canoeing to where the spring meets the St. John River.(you can't canoe in the spring where the manatees congregate). The manatees actually swam under our canoe so close to the surface that we could touch them. We also canoed about an hour down Snake Creek and an hour back. Saw all kinds of birds and... More

We tried to visit one day and their was a 1/2 hour wait to get it so we left and came back earlier the next day. It was cold that morning in the low 30's and there was lots of manatees and you could see steam coming off the river. We had our dog with us and wanted him to... More
