The Land Between The Lakes is a wonderful recreation area that is all about getting back to nature. There is an 1850's working farm where you can actually see how people lived day to day in the 1850's. The Nature Station is an awesome hands on learning experience for young and old alike. The Planetarium is truly an educational and... More

I was here to hike the area, and the trails are, for the most part, well kept and marked. I hiked the North-South trail from the visitor center south for about 2 hours (4.25 miles). I am from the Laurel Highlands for reference here. The trail was easy, few hills of note; on my trip I passed by signs of... More

Come outside and play is the motto of the Land Between the Lakes Recreation Area. I visit the various attractions regularly, There is an Elk & Bison Prairie where the animals graze over several acres of land, a Nature Station for learning about wildlife of the area,a planetarium and The Home Place where there are reenactments of daily life in... There isn't a lot here - the loop road is a couple miles long. But it is a nice stretch of road, and the focus of the road, that they are bringing back the bison, elk and other animals to their natural habitat, is a good thing. To access the loop, you can pay at the machine, or you can... More

Elk & Bison Prairie is a must see if you enjoy wildlife. We got to see lots of Bison, and several Elk. Both were so impressive. The park was quiet when we were there so it was a nice leisurely drive through. You can do the loop again if you want to see what you missed the first time through.... More

We were staying at a campground in the Land Between the Lakes area and we visited "The Homeplace". It is an 1850's working farm with very authentic built buildings, fences, animal areas, gardens and working areas. It was a great visit and such an enjoyable time - - a step back in time - but not a "cheezy" set-up. The... More

This visitor's center at Golden Pond is a great place right in the center of the Land Between the Lakes recreational area to start your visit. There is a planetarium, a gift shop, and a nice exhibit about the area and the history of how the National Recreation area came to be. Lots of info to be had, fliers and... More
