This is a lovely church. We enjoyed reading the loving inscriptions on many of the cemetery headstones..

This lovely little chapel is steeped in history. The tiny adjacent cemetery has a poignant and haunting story. The Christmas service here was perfect--just perfect. We have driven by golf cart or car, but it would also be a wonderful place to stop while biking the island.

As you round the curve in the road on Captiva (you will then see The Green Flash restaurant on your right) , look for the signs to take a left, wind back to this charming chapel by the sea. The lights at the holiday time are nice to see & just a peaceful place to stop in & count your... More

This tiny church is nestled in tropical foliage on a sandy lot, with parking, which is highly valued in this area. It is literally by the sea and numerous benches are available for a contemplative moment. Next door is the cemetery with a description of the history. The library is adjacent and apparently uses the same parking lot, I think... More

Exploring the island. The chapel is lovely and the cemetery has some very old markers. It's still a place of loves lost.

The Captiva Chapel By-The-Sea and cemetery is a peaceful almost spiritual place to visit. It seems to be untouched by time...a time machine that takes you back to a simpler day. This is truly my piece of heaven on this Earth.

This is a nice side trip.tomsee some history on Captiva. Don't overlook the Historic Captiva Cemetery and the custom of placing sea shells on the head stones. Beautiful trees and flower.

This place is always very inspirational, but last year my wife and I went for the Christmas show and it was spine tingling. But whenever, stop by.

Disappointingly, though not surprisingly, the chapel itself was not accessible. We'll have to come back. The cemetery, however, si fascinating. my beloved found someone who shared her family name, so we have work to do on the genealogy. I don't think this would justify a special trip, but as we passed it on our return journey it was worth a... More
