I went with a group from Valencia Lakes on a trip to Sanibel which included a tour by Captiva Cruises. We had a wonderful tour filled with lots of information about the area and included a short visit from a couple of dolphins.

Having been on many dolphin trips, Cabbage Key, and Useppa island, we were delighted to see that the Boca Grande trip had been extended into may, as it usually closes at the end of April. We boarded the Santiva at McCarthys Marina and set off...More

The cruise was great. The commentary by Elliot was interesting and helpful. Cayo Costa Island is so pritine and the shelling is fantastic. Great way to spend a half day.

Captain and staff were nice and informative about Captiva and the surrounding islands. Bartender made us very nice strawberry margaritas with a heavy hand. We saw a fun group of dolphins that followed our boat for a ways jumping and playing in the surf. Beautiful...More

On our way to Sanibel area today - family of four - two "kids" ages 21 & 23. Trying to decide between the Useppa cruise or the Caya Costa for shelling. Any recommendations. Also - the full day at Caya Costa or half day? Thanks!

sorry I missed your question as I was away, but we took the exact same cruise you chose and enjoyed it so much. We didn't get as many usual shells as we had hoped but where we were staying our shell hunting was fabulous so... More

How long did you actually have to look for shells on the island? Did the cruise to the island take up most of the 3 hours?
