    Love this place!
I did the painting experience with Safari the tortoise. Keep in mind, this will be done at 8am, before they officially open. If you do this, keep moving so that Safari spreads the paint around! They have a great setup, Sweet Pea is adorable, and if you're "lucky" you may get to see a wild sea turtle that has been rescued.

Excellent little place to learn about the sea turtles.
We visited this area after seeing sea turtles on the pier and seeing the volunteers tend to a nest that hatched right outside of our condo! It was a great learning experience and so cute to see Sweet Pea! What she went thru is heartbreaking. Really makes you think about how you leave the environment and how it affects the turtles. She lost a flipper and part of her shell 😢

    Conservation learning experience
Great visit on fall break. We learned about Sweet Pea, the sea turtle as well as conservation efforts. Sales from the gift shop go straight back to the center. Great stop in between beach time.

    Great tour!
We really enjoyed the conservation. The tour was short & talked all about the one sea turtle they rescued. We enjoyed it though & learned a lot. There are a few exhibits to see as well & a gift shop. They even had tortoises outside while we waited for the tour to start. We would definitely go back again to see Sweet Pea!

    Turtle rescue
Only one sea turtle to see here. Admission is by tour only that happens every 20 minutes and fill up quickly (wait was an hour out when I was there on a Tuesday). There was no shade to wait in as their shade was destroyed on a storm. Very educational and a good mission.

I’ll preface my review by saying that the sea turtle conservation center undoubtedly does amazing, invaluable work. While the admission fee of $5 per adult initially doesn’t sound very costly, it’s pricey for the lack of a fulfilling experience, and even pricier for those paying admission for larger families. There is an initial impression that the rehabilitation center has more to offer visitors in terms of an educational program than it actually does. Aside from the few aquatic turtles and tortoises on the exterior of the building, there are 3 live specimens on exhibit indide the building that are truly intriguing and worth observing— a lion fish, a small tank of jelly fish and darling Sweet Pea the rescued sea turtle who is beyond rehabilitation and cannot be returned to the wild. Upon arriving at the rehabilitation center, our group of 20 or so visitors was told that we’d be taken on a tour. The tour consisted of entering the building and gathering around Sweet Pea’s swimming pool, where an employee educated us in a 10 or so minute info session on sea turtles in general and shared with us the life story of Sweet Pea and how she came to be a permanent resident of the conservation center. She is the only sea turtle on site, and if this is known up front prior to visiting the center, then expectations can be more reasonable. That was the extent of the “tour”. The group was then left to explore a room with a handful of other specimens and some exhibits and info posted on the walls. There’s also a gift shop. We expected to learn more about the work done by the conservation center and thought that we’d see more than one sea turtle b/c the web site makes reference to multiple. It would also be wonderful to hear other stories of sea turtle rescue and of efforts made to preserve the overall population.

This center is really well-done. They have a number of rescued turtles who they care for. Guides were excellent (especially Judy) and we learned a lot.

This was a great little attraction, the people were very nice and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend. It’s also very informative, while we were there they had rescued a blue crab from a restaurant that was going to be someone’s dinner.

Interesting look into the challenges sea turtles encounter usually due in part to environmental pollution and human trash. Small but informative museum. Allow an hour plus.

Really small and only 1 live sea turtle in a big pool but a few other attractive displays with information. Mostly info about sea turtles. Informative and attractive but short visit. The guide was informative. Was expecting more.
