About
Palmse Manor is one of the grandest baroque mansions in Estonia. The mansion and open-air museum were the first fully restored manor complex in the country. They are surrounded by the beautiful natural environment of Lahemaa National Park and provide an overview of Estonian manor life and architecture throughout the ages. The open-air museum boasts parks, gardens and historical buildings and features exhibitions, workshops, a training centre, a Palm House, a wine cellar, a romantic café and a tavern serving national dishes. Did you know...? - You can take part in different events at the manor that are designed for children, history enthusiasts, adventurers and romantics- The manor is a popular venue for exhibitions, plays and concerts and the perfect location for training events, conferences, weddings and receptions

One of the beautiful - restored - manors in the Lahemaa National Park.
I didn't visit the manor inside, but had a walk in the lovely garden with a pond, a few follies and a greenhouse (free to visit)
It is a big estate, besides the manor and gardens, there is also a hotel, a restaurant, the Lahemaa NP tourist information centre and a small supermarket next to the car park.

Palmse Manor is a gem of a hotel in a great location for exploring Lahemaa National Park. We stayed here for one night as part of a group tour. On arrival we were presented with the evening menu and provided the hotel with our chosen meals. We then had some free time to explore. The hotel is in the old distillery by the lake. Our room was at the back overlooking the lake which was a fabulous view. The rooms are a good size but pretty basic. There were two small single beds, a wardrobe and a tv (don't know what reception was like we didn't turn it on). There is free wifi but it can be a bit hit and miss. Apparently the best wifi signal is in the lounge area by the fireplace. There are three walks available around the gardens of between 1-2.5km ish but we took a nice amble around while we still had sunshine.
There's a bar opposite reception but it wasn't open when we were there. You can get drinks (hot / alcoholic) from the restaurant kitchen though. Dinner was very nice. Our group was mostly vegetarian and they offered us a tasty mushroom omelette with fried potatoes and salad. Dessert was a fresh homemade apple cake which was delicious! We enjoyed our short stay here and would recommend it.

It is a nice Baltic German manor and a large well kept park (entrance to the park is free). Nice artificial lake, rotunda. Ten minute walk in the forest there is a pile of ice age rocks covered with moss.
Hint: do not miss a great information office to the left of the main house. It actually contains a mini museum of the Lahemaa natural park with lots of explanations in English on how this part of Estonia formed during the ice age, examples of minerals. Text about plants and animals. Information about seamen and fishermen. You can easily spend about an hour here. Some of the displays are interactive. It is a great spot to start your exploration of the Lahemaa park. The office has detailed maps of the park which also indicates the location of the largest boulders brought here from Sweden and Finland by the glacier. It is great to follow this by a walk in Kasmu, so called village of captains, which is 15 km North. There is a 4 km circular walk through the pine beach and the forest and visits the "stone-field" (a former shore of the sea full of glacier boulders) and one of the largest such boulders - Matsi kivi. The path is well marked with info points.

A great half day here. The inside part is quick to move around. We were there early when it opened and only another couple was there. Three floors well worth the 7 euros each to help maintain the mansion and gardens. The gardens are stunning. Plan to go on a beautiful day cause the gardens and hiking paths are worth it. Beyond the garden and pond are well-marked paths. This takes you through quiet forest, ridges and up to a huge gorgeous gazebo overlooking a lake. Also, you will pass over a picturesque bridge.
The path wound around the other side of the mansion bringing us to the smithery and Rye still. We also saw their miniature ponies, very cute!

We were staying at the hotel so had the advantage of free entry to the Manor House. It is nicely restored and interesting. For me the grounds are the real star, beautiful trails right in the Lahemaa NP and so much to see. Unfortunately due to our long cycle rides in the area we only had time for a quick jog around the grounds for 30 minutes in the morning before we left after a comfortable nights stay in the converted distillery (which is where the hotel is!). Well worth a visit - try and stay the night there to really enjoy the place and plan your time better than we did!

In the middle of Laheema NP, you'll find this old manor. You can make a few short walks (free of charge) over the estate gardens. Beautful! Ask for a map at the manor. Afterwards, visit the local mini-supermarket opposite the manor house. Cheap coffee and a nice picknick place with a view over the fields.

Palmse Manor park is situated in Lahemaa National park. The actual manor house is quite simply decorated, the highlight being the kitchen with it's open fire. It was a shame there wasn't much information about the house and the family (there was a book in one of the rooms but I found it difficult to read and would have preferred some information boards).
The highlight is the beautiful gardens, lakes and out houses. It was lovely walking outside and exploring the gardens. The views are gorgeous.
I spent about 2 hours there and it is definitely worth a trip if you're in the area. I would note that we couldn't find anywhere to eat/have a coffee but there is a village shop by the car park. Also there used to be a visitor's centre on the site but this has been relocated which is a shame.

This is a beautiful historic manor. There are several picturesque ponds, the baroque manor house, a cool little greenhouse, a forge, and other interesting things.

Maintenance has kept this place in excellent shape.
Very nice independent tour at your own pace.
Attendant cranked up the music box for us which was quite a treat.
Rooms are furnished as they eould have been hundreds of years ago.
Lovely grounds.
Definitely worth a stop.
