About
This museum's mission is to acquire, preserve, display, and promote collections of a historical nature that will be of educational value to the preservation of African American history as it relates to the struggles and accomplishments of Black Police Officers in Over town, as they served during the pre-Civil Rights era of the 1940's, 50's, and 60's. We are the only museum of our kind in the country.

    Wonderful tour with Mr. Ealey
After my first visit I had to make sure I bring my family to check out this wonderful place. We had the pleasure to have Mr. Ealey as our tour guide and he was wonderful! He answered every question we had, very informative, and friendly. Definitely the best tour we’ve ever had.

    Well worth the visit!
This experience is one of the most meaningful I've had in a long time. The tour was a humbling step back in time but also full of pride for those who had served in the precinct. It was a privilege to be able to tour and I look forward to coming back with my own family.

    Black Police Precinct Review
Probably the top attraction in Miami, I highly recommend! We had a guided tour that took us throughout the building and we got to take in so much history. The building is also close to the Metrorail and downtown so it’s very easy to access.

    Great information experience
This tour was very interesting. I learned a lot of interesting facts and our tour guide Ms.Debora knew a lot about the history and infrastructures. 10 out of 10 recommend stopping by if you’re up for learning more about the history of black enforcement in Miami.

    Must visit!
Amazing!! Miami Waterkeeper, Debris Free Oceans and Urban Health Partnerships hosted a Overtown Walking Tour and River Clean-up event and we stopped here as part of the tour. Very interesting and informative tour. If you go to Overtown, this is a pivotal part of its history!!

    Black & Proud
Sergeant & Larry share knowledgeable information about the first black patrol officers, as well as other officers. The museum felt like a blast to the past, with all the information & equipment that is well preserved. I learned a lot of the First Fine & even Judge Thomas. I’ll be sure to share my experience with family & friends. It’s so important to learn about our past & how time has changed.

    Amazing Tour
Mr. Jackson and Mr. Ealey were great guides. They are really well versed in the history because they lived some of it! They also gave us fun facts about certain historical individuals and current uses of the space. I really recommend the tour because they're not just knowledgeable but also personable and interesting to listen to.

Perfect to do for (not only) rainy days in Miami
We spontaneously decided to visit the museum due to rainy weather and it was an amazing choice. Mr. Ealey guided us through and shared a lot of interesting information and experiences with us. We would definitely recommend to visit this museum, absolutely great experience! Special thanks also to Mr. Ealey for this awesome tour!

A must see, it is worth your time!
The tour was amazing with Officer Ealey. To know your history is to empower your future. With all the atrocities handed out to innocent Black people in the name of the law, then and now, it’s shows true resilience of the people. Thanks to the staff for a job well done. A gem that must be visited when you come to Miami.

Truly enjoyed this short, but highly informational tour! We have history right in our backyards and don't even know it. I recommend for anyone interested in learning more about Miami, especially when it comes to the Black community which are an important and major part of the city's history. Staff is friendly and answered all our questions.

Tour guide retired sergeant Stewart of the city of Miami PD was informative, engaging and entertaining. He offered the students and spectators the opportunity for Q&A and took his time with his responses. Thank you for an amazing and wonderfully educational day!

Today, some students from my school were able to view the museum. It was a real eye opener for students and the chaperones. Most didn't know the museum existed and reading about racism is one thing. Looking at primary sources and artifacts is another. The displays and the information were on point. They went hand in hand. The tour guides asked guided questions that were very engaging. There were hands on activities that the students did as well. It was a wealth of knowledge and a great way for the students, or any spectator, to keep learning about Black History beyond the month of February. It's also about our very own local history. We enjoyed our visit and learned a lot. Thanks to Dade Heritage Trust for sponsoring it.

I learned so much about the black precinct court house. I'll recommend others to come. Great guide! The guide was very knowledgeable. He told us about the history of the precinct and courthouse he answered questions throughout the tour.
Before you go please make sure you go to website and purchase tickets.

Area: the precinct is located in the Over town area of Miami. There is a few vagrants east of the precinct but not to worry the precinct is in a gated area

Building: The precinct is well kept clean and freshly painted. Well air conditioned in that humid Miami heat.

Tour: The tour was very educational. The guide went over every article, photo and artifact within the building. He answered every question and keep his audience engaged in the tour. Definitely worth the visit. Next time on the East Coast I will visit again and refer others to go.

Con: you can't purchase tickets at the precinct you have to purchase them on their website.

Two thumbs up

Our tour guide sergeant Stewart gave a concise and meaningful explanation behind the history of the Precinct/Courthouse. Which highlighted the different cases, the equipment, the method of procedures, and information is on the dying uniqueness to the building. All around amazing experience!

It was a great experience, really. Terrance was everything!!! He let us enter the museum even after it closed... and we actually cried during the tour.
Please don’t miss it, we have to create conciousness around these matters and this museum is a great way to do that.

This museum is a great community resource for understanding this history of policing, civil rights, and racism in Miami. Lots of informative artifacts, and our guide was great - his own story was reason enough to spend an hour there, but he shared so much about others' as well. (Also, great AC makes this a perfect middle of the day activity in hotter months!)

I had the pleasure of taking a tour with Mr. Ealy. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He took his time with us and was very detailed. The museum was full of historical memorabilia. There were tons of pictures and articles. I definitely want to tell everyone about this place. I love that pictures aren’t allowed because it allowed me to keep my phone away and be engaged.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to have visited the Miami Black Precinct in March 2021. It opened my eyes, and I learned so much about Miami's rich black history. The staff is warm, friendly, and engaging. Furthermore, the staff is there to answer whatever questions you might have. I will most certainly visit again in the future.

The museum has a wonderfully organized collection of clippings, photos, and artifacts for you to be in awe of!

Take your family, friends, coworkers, associates, and or church members on an organized field trip there! You'll and your family and friends will be amazed!

Sgt Jackson gave a thorough tour of the museum to FWC Officers and their mentees (of Big Brothers Big Sisters). He was very engaging and answered all posed questions in a patient and respectful manner. We are extremely grateful for this educational and eye-opening experience.
